We were taken to this Italian/Ethiopean restaurant by some guests who clearly enjoyed its pretence at Italian cuisine. We did have some difficulty locating it as it had moved its location, but the Tuk-Tuk drivers knew were it was! It wasn’t what we were expecting from an Italian restaurant, as it offered many different cuisines; these did, however, include pizza, which our guests were very happy about. It was very cheap at around £6/head including drinks.

We had excellent coffee in Fikir Coffee which is a local Ethiopian Restaurant/cafe in Awassa. Coffee is served in little clay pots. In our case, just right portion for the 3 of us! There are also bigger and smaller coffee pots, depending on number of clients drinking coffee together. The little incense burner on our table enhanced the lovely aroma of freshly grounded coffee which was poured in front of us! The restaurant is lovely decorated, with local utensils and fabrics. Super coffee, personal service, nice setting. What more do you want? Go and enjoy! Warmly recommended.

We did not stay at the hotel - which seemed very good - but we ate a number of times at Hi Life.
The restaurant is a stones throw from the lake side and is an ideal spot for an evening or lunch time drink and meal. It is excellent value for money, the food is generous and whilst you may not all be served at the same time the overall service is delightful.
Go for a stroll alongside the lake, take a boat trip and then relax in the restaurant afterwards. Its lovely.

Lewi seems to own half the hotel and cafe business of Awasa...
Quite up and down in terms of what they have and the quality...
Service is ok and location is good.
To be on the safe side, go for the Ethiopian dishes if that strikes your fancy. Otherwise, pizzas are ok as well.

Italian restaurant in Hawassa: Ethiopia we serve Western and Ethiopian Dishes. We are located in the most renowned recreation area in Hawassa where you can enjoy Lake Hawassa and the nearby places and come to us to have great Italian Dishes with Imported from Italy ingredients. Our meals are prepared by Ethiopian and Italian owners.
Surprisingly, there is an Italian restaurant on the road to the Hawassa Fish Market, just over from the Oasis International Hotel, with an owner who certainly some European heritage. The restaurant is very clean and the food is very good, albeit somewhat more expensive than many surrounding venues. If you want a pretty authentic Italian meal then you can expect one here. Around £20 a head with a bottle of wine between 3, and water.

You can also enjoy with differents types of cocktails.
I come here often for the chicken Shwarma and to enjoy a coffee and relax. The food in general is acceptable for the level of service found in Awassa (meaning keep your expectations low). I give it 4/5 stars due to the location!
