The first time I went here on a busyish Sunday evening with my wife and we had not been served our starters after 30 minutes and were not told when we would be served, so we cancelled our order and left.
Went this week with large work party(20) we had to give our food order in a week beforehand and they were under pressure to serve people. Some of us only got our meals while others were on coffee, if they waited for us their food would have been cold. We were only customers.

Came off the motorway to have dinner in this place.
We were impressed with the food. Seafood salad for starters was ok..prawns very watery and some of the fish tasted bland.
Salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked veg. Roast beef was very good if not a little over done, great portion.
Kids goujons and chips were disappointing, processed goujons, I was not happy that it wasn't proper chicken.

The Nook is a quaint, up beat, tasty little restaurant in the small town of Athenry. We just happened upon this place and from the moment we stepped in, we were made to feel welcome. Absolutely the best crepes I've every had. It was a rainy, cold day (go figure in Ireland :) and a hot, comforting cuppa tea was perfect for warming us up. The owner is what makes this place 5 stars. She has a great sense of humor. Despite being super busy, she took it all with ease and never slowed down. Instead, she would interject clever and kind words to anyone stepping through the door. She asked us questions about our travels and gave us great advice. Truly a caring person with a great talent for making tasty food. If ever in Ireland again, I plan to go back!

An award winning family run coffee shop, café, tapas and wine bar. Serving fresh and delicious food and organic, fairtrade coffee.
First visit with friends will not be returning. Had steak special we couldn't cut through the bread. The kitchen is open so all the frying smells were in the dining area our clothes stank. No hats or gloves worn by people preparing food. Utensils in plastic looked like old margarine tubs. A lot of people going in and out through food preparation area . No sign of hand washing. Woman cooking the food was unfriendly and staff were ordinary

This is a top class Indian Restaurant.
Ratings from previous Trip Advisor reports were very good and we were not disappointed. The waiter gave a very brief explanation of each dish as we ordered, which was helpful. The food was really excellent. There was 4 in our party and everyone raving about what they got.

Have only had take out from here, but assume the food tastes the same in either case. While the food tastes good, it lacks something to make it great. Although the best restaurant for this cuisine in Athenry, I have had better in and around Galway.

Despite Tripadvisor stating this cafe is located in Athenry, it's actually in Galway city, close to TK Maxx and Debenhams. It's not big and it's not fancy to look at from the outside, but they do great breakfasts/brunch (my particular treat when I'm out). Their...MoreThank you for your review. We were staying in a nearby village (without any dining options), so we decided to get some food in lovely Athenry. There are plenty of options here, but we felt like having some Indian food and spotted this place from our car.
We ordered one veggie and one chicken curry, samosa, some rice and naan bread (plain, cheese and garlic) to go. Service was really friendly and helpful, waiting time about 15min, which was fine.
The food was pretty good. The Samosa were a bit plain, but the curries were nicely done as was the naan bread. Rice was a bit on the dry side though. But all in all we enjoyed our meal very much. The main "act", the curries were really good and nicely sized with lots of meat and veggies, so it deserves the four stars.
