Simple delicious Chinese-Sri Lankan place which services up Chinese basics with a very Sri Lankan twist.
Deservedly popular with locals and travellers alike.
We especially loved their Kang Kung (stir fried water spinach in sweet and sour garlic sauce) which was so delicious we re-ordered it twice. Highly recommended, and good value too!

Salgado is a restaurant chain and shares the same menu of hundreds of other "hotels" along the busy streets of every Sri Lankan city. We stopped off at the Main Street shop after touring around for the day. They serve the usual spicy Sri Lankan pastries and curried buns, as well as bread and tea and coffee etc. This facility was well worn with locals and cleanliness was not a priority as far as tables, walls, etc were concerned.
That said, I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again, as the food was fresh and the staff was great and attentive. There are dozens of other choices along Main Street from here to the New Bus Station, and I ate at several of them, many of which were just as good or better than this one.
Just look for a guy chopping Kottu in the front window and try your luck.
Two of us ate at several of these Rotti shop "Hotels" and the price averaged around 225 Rupees with a large bottle of water.

May be today was not the best day of the cook. My wife had the Milano special seafood soup and was very satisfied. I had grilled sea fish. This was the absolutely wrong decision. The fish was dry and without any taste. But the beer and the juices were very good. Also the service was excellent.

For dinner there isn't much options available here . For lunch there is a buffet Rs.700 pp. mainly local rice and curry , soup and desert. This is a clean place and quite spacious . There is a kids play area too.
Recommend the buffet for lunch and the mixed chopsy rice for dinner.

Foods served in buffet type on a lotus leaf and apparently they really activated the taste buds. Very delicious tank fish is served with some matching Sri Lankan curries with the high tone of spices. Could be more tastier if they can reduce the spices, especially the chillies a bit. The prices are very very reasonable and recommended to enjoy the countryside meal in a different way.

We need a break from traditional Sri Lankan food which we've had breakfast, lunch and dinner for the past 2 weeks. So headed to Pizza Hut tonight. It was packed with locks. We both had pan pizza. Really nice. Just like back home. Menu had a few different choices along the spicy chicken line. Restaurant was really clean, service was quick and pizza was delicious.

Mango Mango is the first Authentic North & South Indian Restaurant In Anuradhapura. Mango Mango Opened its doors to food lovers on 4th April 2014.
If you are a searching for a good restaurant in A'pura, Mango mango is quite the place to be. Though the location of the restaurant is situated little bit away from the town, it was worth visiting there. They serve Indian cuisines mostly, yet the food is fine.

Very much a budget hotel with no frills in the rooms. However the staff were fantastic. They were friendly and there was great attention to detail. The food was absolutely brilliant. It was restricted to the traditional Sri Lankan fish or chicken curry, but I could have eaten it every night it was so good. The side dishes added variety and they remembered what my favourite side dish was and served it up the following night with other side dishes which were different from the night before. Look out for the freshly squeezed mango juice at breakfast. It doesn't get any fresher than being picked off the hotel's own mango tree! I loved this place. As a working pensioner it is not quite what I am used to, it would probably suit younger back packers and travellers better, but if you don't mind doing without the finer things for a couple of days I would highly recommend it.

We were guests at the Lakeside hotel, so for convenience we had the buffet dinner here. For Rs 1500 it was worth paying that little extra (compared to some tourist buffet restaurants) for a much higher standard of food.
We were pleasantly surprised by the spread and quality of the food. There was an international spread and an equally wide Sri Lankan spread. The wait staff were very friendly and polite.
Not sure how much it costs for a non-guest to dine here but if you are staying a night here, we highly recommend you try their buffet dinner. It's much better than what you'll get out there in the other tourist spots in Anuradhapura.
