The Province of Ningxia has amazing desert s witha great adventure tourism.Y=The name on my ticket said Tengri desert but also is known as Tengri desert,I believe this place would make an excellent reviewthanks Andrew Knight
Recently spending a fewdays in Yinchuan I decided to visit the desert in Ningxia.
i booked my day tour through reception at my hotel. All up the total cost of the outing
was 570 yuan. A company rep came to my hotel and escorted me to the bus stop nearby.
From memory it was about 4 hours on the bus approximately? to the desert from Yinchuan. The ticket I was given at the desert said 130 yuan.On arrival I was given a life jacket and escorted to the river. After an amazing jet boat ride you reach the other side of the river and have a short walk to the desert. The desert is so hot so take a good sunhat
and sunscreen as well.I paid 50 yuan and ascended a hill on camel back it was a great ride.unfortunately i had a misunderstanding with the camet trainer who tried to demand extra money off me for the ride.Fortunately myChinese tour guide came to my rescue.!
My group then all boarded little golf like cars to take us to the start of the camel rides.
The camel rides are amazing make sure you take a good camera. Professional photographerson site take photos of you on the camels for 20 CNY but the photos aren't always in good condition. After the camel ride you can take a ride in a desert jeep over the dunes
really exhilarating!! After that I paid 40 yuan for a 4-5 minute dune buggy drive,it was too short a ride for 40 CNY but an experience to try. After the dune buggy drive/ride( as the other driver can also control the car fom the passenger side) there's a short camel ride and a short gondola ride down the dunes or if you prefer a sand toboggan ride to the bottom
of the dunes. To return to the park entrance/exit you board a raft in small groups
after getting a lifejacket. This desert is great value for money ,as one gets to do a great variety of adventure tourism activites however the only drawback for Westerners is most of the staff I spoke to spoke no or very little English.Iwould recommend requestingthe assistance of an English speaking tour guide if possible to Western non speakers of Chinese.

you get the grasslands, a boat ride, camel and horse rides as well as thrill rides, its all a bit of a mixed bag but it seems to work
within an hour from Yinchuan, $20 will get you a tai for the round trip
eat at the grasslands for less than $2, beware of the taxi driver wanting to take you to a restaurant-they tried to sell me a fish for $70
