The plants in this botanical garden was brought here by the ex-overseas Chinese from all around the world. most of it are the plants from South East Asia.
try to take the tour with the vehicle provided, there you can see pepper tree, mango tree, jackfruit tree, coffee tree etc. at the end of the tour you can take a break at a small cafe where they serve you up to 8 types of coffee and tea that they produce themselves. to reach the exit, you can pass through the shops which sells all of their products.

We went there on the third afternoon after the Typhoon. It was very hot and of course, not so many Chinese tourists. Nice and clean water, but the beach was quite a disappointment as there was a lot of trash lying around. Generally, it was OK, not so good as the first time I went in 2008.
We went there from Wanning city, which was not far from the bay. There is a direct bus from the new bus station in Wanning directly to the entrance of Le Meridien hotel. And about 300m's walk, you will see the vast ocean. If you are lucky enough, you will be able to jelly fish swimming in the shallow water. They are pretty, but don't touch them as you never know whether they have poison. They day we went this year, there were some young guys fishing on the huge rocks about 50m from the beach. The water was so shallow that you didn't even need to swim. Anyway, nice beach. Recommended.

The boundary island happened purely by accident. We were one of the last minute planners this year for our chinese new year holidays. I bumped into this option on the internet and while trying to locate the place, considered going for it purely because it was located further out from Sanya & its normally touristy spots frequented by other tourists. To our surprise, this island is a 20-25 min boat ride from the Mainland onto this utterly well developed island maintained by the 'boundary island' group.
There are several water sports activities, beautifully spaced out as well as equipped rooms to cater to couples, families, larger travelling groups etc. The staff on the island are well spread out and support the needs of the scores of visitors (most of who are day tourists who come in and go out) with a sporting smile. There are the usual 'viewing points' from various spots within the island (which is mountainous) that are a visual treat onto themselves. There are also the specific swimming areas/beach spots that allow one to soak in the white sand and the breezy spirit in the air.
There are several seafood restaurant options as well as a western restaurant. The western restaurant was a huge disappointment in an otherwise flawless experience. There was hardly anything on the menu and for us vegetarians, this place that was otherwise providing some hope turned to be a rather sour experience.
Nobody understands or speaks English. We happened to be the ONLY non-chinese tourists those 2 days we were on the island. The staff took great care of our needs (as long as we managed to communicate the same well enough). I highly recommend this place, as a definite alternative in case you are visiting sanya for 4-5 days. It is about 1.5 hours away from Sanya city side and one needs to hook up with either the boundary island management for a bus transportation from the city to the ferry point or hire a cab.
Within the island, there are electric cars that could help ferry people/luggage around to the various points of interest. Very flexible for us as we were travelling with parents as well as our twin infants. The crowds can be unnerving for some but being Indians, we are used to crowds and therefore were quite at 'home'.
Regarding the attractions -- some of them offer a discount for residents, so therefore remember to flash your room keys incase you would like to draw their attention towards this fact and it might help! Having a chinese speaking companion is a huge plus, and my wife who is a level3 chinese 'scholar' (for me:)) was leading all discussions. Despite this, things can be a challenge as the chinese spoken in Hainan Islands is very different from what we are used to up north in Beijing.
Complexities apart, this place is very blissful, relatively virgin i believe and deserves attention while things are still maintained as well as they are now :)

It's a beautiful island, spoiled by the people who go there.
Great clear water for swimming, snorkelling and diving.
Unfortunately, to get there, you'll probably have to be part of a tour group, which will involve loudspeakers, music, party games, singing, dancing, and general enforced bonding with your fellow tourgroup members. I'd suggest opting out and lying on the beach.
You won't see much of the island, just a little part of beach, that's designated for your tour group.
There's no toilets on the island, so secluded spots have sprouted a white floor covering of tissues where people have simply used the space, and thrown the tissues on to the ground, or in to the bushes. There's no litter bins either, so, the island is slowly becoming dirtier as people throw their rubbish in to the trees.
But the water is clear, warm, and great for swimming, snorkelling and diving. It's very beautiful.

The Riyue Bay Surf Club is located in the Wanning of Hainan, and is located at the junction of tropical and subtropical areas..Riyue Bay beach here, delicate, clear water, surrounded by Castle Peak, a temperate maritime climate make water average temperature at 26.5 degrees Celsius, excellent for Surfing and surf conditions, whether in Riyue Bay in winter and summer are suitable for Surfing.
The bay is beautiful. The Surfing is excellent for beginners. The local hotels and hostel are nice.
But the area has a trash problem. Trash is strewn about the northern end of the beach and up to the point. People have been using the area as a dump.
Moreover, there are a large number of abandoned houses nearby. They're a blight on the land. That's why I didn't come back.
To the local government raking in tourist grants from Beijing: Restore Riyue Bay to its natural beauty. Only then will you see a tourism boom.

In my opinion, the "Xinglong Tropical Garden" is actually the "Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden" and rated as Number 1 thing to do in Wanning/Xinglong. If you want to walk through a park like setting viewing plants, then this needs to be on your "bucket list".
