We've been in Vars (La fôret blanche) last January. Set amidst the southern France Alps, this is more like a family-style resort, fully adequate for kids, especially those beginning to learn mountain ski (like our 7 year-old daughter). There are several trails for beginners, but also some (reds and blacks) for more advanced skiers.

bon accueil.Au point de départ des randonnées, accueil aimable et compétent.
Attention : vipères sur le site ( c'est un parc naturel).
Excellent balisage.

We booked our daughter in for 4 x 2h snowboarding lessons during the February half term. Her lessons were with Quentin and by the end of her 4th lesson on the Thursday morning she was going down slopes and turning with ease. She really enjoyed...MoreThank you for this comment. Our daughter (5 years old) followed the ESF classes this year - she liked it and progressed quickly. She's very pround of her "ourson" and still wears it.
A bit messy - I was not aware kids will go by minibus to another location and was a bit confused when my husband told me he saw our daughter in a completely different area of the ski resort (couldn't figure out how she ended up there); but all good, they were brought back safely.
And they took lovely pictures of the kids ... something we also learned a bit by mistake - our daughter gave us a business card from a photo station... but she did not say they took pictures, so we did not really pay attention to it. Might be safer to inform the parents ... I'm wondering how many parents are aware there are pictures available (we went at the photo station for other pictures and someone in front of us asked about the pictures from the ski lessons, and we asked if there are pictures from various classses or only on demand).
I took a private lesson (to regain confidence, as they say) - the prof was very calm, patient, and provided very good advice.

Lo stadio permanente della velocità a Vars - pista di Chabrières - permette anche al pubblico di cimentarsi con lo sci di velocità. Beninteso, bisogna essere bravi sciatori. È aperto durante la stagione invernale, sulla cui fine viene ospitato a Vars lo Speed Masters, evento in cui si cimentano i migliori specialisti al mondo del Kilometro Lanciato. E anche questa è una manifestazione da non perdere, per chi si trovasse da quelle parti.

È la competizione che una volta all'anno riunisce nella stazione francese di Vars i migliori specialisti al mondo del Kilometro lanciato, lo sci di velocità. Si svolge sul finire della stagione sciistica ed è un grande spettacolo all'insegna dell'adrenalina.
