This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the God of happiness, the son of Lord Shiva. Ganesha's vehicle, as everyone knows, is the rat. As a result of what, rats are not only welcomed but worshipped in his temple. I loved the statues and the whole temple, but I think there were too many rats inside. I had left my shoes at the door, I stepped several times on rat feces and several rats tried to climb on my legs. That wasn't pleasant.
I don't think Ganesh is pleased either. His vehicle is one rat, not 1,000! If the vehicle of a man is a car, that's fine. But if this man has 1,000 cars, that's a big problem. He will make a terrible traffic jam all alone and pollute the earth in an unprecedented way.

A Vishnu temple with a massive fort gateway has been built in Dravidian style and is closed to non-Hindus.
The temple is beautiful and very nice place to visit. You feel positive inside. Only negative feedback I carry is for 4-5 people from management who were sitting inside and staring at women with very bad intentions.i had to go to them and remind them they are in a temple. I also reported the same to a Kerala Police Guy on duty but alas he said these guys are from temple management. Shame on such people.

You must take a boat ride, we caught hold of a local person and it was very cheap, compared to reviews here on site. We paid Rs. 1000/- for 2 hours ride. It's beautiful to go through the backwaters and then reach the Poovar Beach, you must take caution at the beach as the waves are very risky here and not the right beach to get into water.

Frankly, I was admiring the building from the inside more than the collection we saw.
Some of the displayed art were interesting though ...
you shouldn't miss it while visiting the park as it's in the center and has this lovely garden around it to chill , walk, or take lovely photos.

The well-preserved wooden palace is one of the best examples of the traditional architecture of Kerala.
This palace built in 1600 AD and was the seat of the King of Travancore for almost 200 years. Fun fact: although the palace and grounds are located entirely in the state Tamilnadu, the palace belongs to the Government of Kerala. This historical treasure is well maintained and kept very clean; each area of importance has staff who act as guides and describe the area.

It’s a must visit place if you are planning to visit trivandrum. It’s walkable from Kovalam beach. Walk from Kovalam till the lighthouse will feel effortless here. There are a lot of extremely good restaurants near the lighthouse. Crab fry is a must try here. Would recommend to stay in any of the beach resorts here and visit this place in early mornings and evenings .
Cabs such as ola and uber seldom comes here due to local issue. In order to hire these cabs , you hv to walk a bit to the main road

The palace complex is located in the vicinity of Padmanabhaswamy Temple. It is made with traditional Kerala architecture like sloping roofs, pillared Varandas, enclosed courtyards. The palace is made of teakwood, rosewood, marble and granite. Portion of the palace has converted into a palace museum. Which displays items, artifacts owned by Travancore Royal family. I'm a beach goer ( Australian by birth ) and had already travelled down the coast from Goa. My take on this is it's a lovely city beach in the vein of the one's in Italy. It's geared for the tourist but its not over done. Water does have a mild rip- but there are lifeguards. Water was clean.
My recommended day trip was to secure a sunbed in the flag area- have brunch/ lunch at the German Bakery ( see review) and dinner or a drink at Sunset at East Meets West Fusion. The window seats there are in the perfect spot for sunset. ( see review).
There were some nice shops ( I didn't explore the lighthouse) but I was lucky enough to catch the fisherman bringing in their days catch on Hawa beach ( the tiny beach around the corner from Kovalam) from around 700pm- 730pm. That was really cool. They were all working in unison like a tug of war ' heave, heave' etc.
Trivandrum can be hectic and hot so this was a good chance to take a break with a sea breeze.
