A world-class entertainment park with lots of activities for families, especially with children < 10 years of age. While there are only about 4-5 thrill rides, the other rides are very suitable for kids and you can spend 2 very fun days in the park given its variety. We went off-holiday so line times were very short and the stay enjoyable. The park misses some points in not having water-fountains (due to "health concerns", come on, who are you kidding???) and some minor details but overall very organized and reasonably priced for international standards (not cheap for Brazilians though). The character encounter is a bit less than ideal but this is compensated by the carefully played-out shows. Overall, a top experience with guaranteed family fun.

If you are heading from São Joaquim to the southern cities of Santa Catarina, the drive down the Serra do Rio do Rastro is unforgettable! You start at the edge of a highland plateau 1400m altitiude and in only 23km you are nearly at sea level. There is a sighting point at the top where it is said one can see the coast if weather permits. There is a restaurant, a café and a snack bar, and a hotel nearby. The view is breathtaking, the dangerous road is unforgettable, drive slow and enjoy!

It is definitely my favorite spot in the island. The path starting from Matadeiro takes about three hours, and the one starting from Pântano do Sul is a two hours hike. I would highly recommend taking the Matadeiro one and starting as soon as the sun rises (so you can spend a lot of time at the beach).

I drove up to the Morro da Igreja, had to take the permit in Urubici, that is easy to find and get, but once I arrived to the location, fog was so intense, that I saw nothing, but from the pictures it looks an amazing site. I will return, from what I learned from the coffee place on the way, that the best time of the year, seems to be August, but, sometimes you need luck, it was cold and that was it.
By the way, you need a car to get here, and the road has some potholes, but yet can be reached.

Steep hill with loose pebbles and dirty narrow trails.
The view is insanely beautiful from the top, but due to the lack of safety and hard access, I would leave little ones and "less athletic" people waiting at the base of the hill (Mariscal beach and several bars and restaurants can be enjoyed there).

Guarda do Embaú is a real paradise. In this beach you have the opportunity to surf great waves all over the year, do some hiking, walking or just enjoy chilling at the seaside!

This really is the focal point of the city, it truly is a beautiful building, it's design, I'm no expert by the way, looks quite unusual for a church. Seeing it during the day is great, but at night time it is so well lite it's awesome. If your in Itajai, you won't miss it.

While you might not expect to find one of the world's largest Oktoberfests in Brazil, the former German colony of Blumenau in Santa Catarina state, rivals Munich as much for its authenticity as it does for the passion of its celebrations! Founded in 1984, the 18-day Blumenau Oktoberfest is a culturally-rich blend of folklore and tradition, and gives locals and tourists alike the chance to fully immerse themselves in a wide range of carefully preserved German customs — including of course, bratwursts and beer!
Vila Germanica is known by its Oktoberfest that happens during 2 weeks of October. I went there once and spent some of the best parties I've been in my life. People are so happy and are dancing and singing in German all the time. Even if you don't have German roots, the fun is guaranteed. One problem? Crowded and lines and more lines to the restrooms.
