An extra star if the gondolas were a little more modern. However, that aside, the trip is fantastic with the alps and lakes opening up before you as you climb ever higher. A little expensive at around €46 for 2 but well worth it and something that should be on the list if you’re in this area.

St. Giligen is a charming village on the shore of Lake Wolfgang (Wolfgangsee) outskirt of Salzburg. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's mother was born here, and Mozart's sister Nannerl moved here after her marriage. Cafe Nannerl in the village is named after Mozart's sister Nannerl. "Mozart House", located at a prime location of the village, is the house where Mozart's mother was born and his sister lived after her marriage. Cute statute of Mozart, playing violin, is standing at the center of Mozartplatz. In addition to the leisure seeking visitors, this village receives many visitors who are taking part of the famous Sound of Music Tour originating from Salzburg which includes this village in their itinerary.

entering the music instruments museum is not trivial - even if you arrive in the specific opening hours of the place the door is closed! you need to knock, and then you enter a magical kingdom! the museum owner who's parents started the collection of amazing musical tools from all around the world also plays all of them (!!!) and would gladly show you a demonstration - we got to hear a wet singing stone, a spring and some more!! an amazin g addition when visiting sankt giligan!

We hadn't heard any reviews about Dallman before coming here, it was simply one of the only cafes open during our day trip out of Salzburg in early April. I had spent a glorious morning walking the path around the lake, and met my husband there for a cup of tea and a nosh. It was really cute and cozy inside, and we had it to ourselves. I had earl grey tea and a ham & cheese panini, very good and reasonable prices. I can imagine it gets quite crowded in the season / summer months, but in spring and fall it's blissfully quiet! Nice little spot.

Like the other reviewer, we decided to walk around the lake from St Gilgen to St Wolfgang, mainly because the top of the Zwolferhorn cable-car was shrouded in mist so our plans to go up were somewhat scuppered.
The walk starts very easily, skirting the lake until you reach the Furberg Hotel (which looks really nice). As the other reviewer says, the path from there to the FalkensteinKirche is pretty steep for about 800m, although we did see a couple of hardy souls pushing small children up in their push-chairs. There are information boards along the way and the kirche itself is in a very picturesque setting.
From there, it's a fairly easy walk through woods and back to the lakeside on to St. Wolfgang. We took the boat back to St. Gilgen which made a very enjoyable and relaxing end to the exertions of the day.

I'm not expecting that I can get all my souvenirs in one place in Mondsee from Salzburg. I got beer glasses and beer mugs very cheap compared to prices in the city. This shop is good for budget travelers looking for good deals. Souvenirs are very expensive if you buy it in places where there's a lot of tourist. When you take tours in the Austrian countryside don't forget to visit the small village of Mondsee.
