This was part of a combo tour with Doka and Grecia. It was very interesting to seeing how the oxcarts are made using the original methods. The tour was concise and interesting.
There is of course the obligatory gift shop. It is huge. Oddly, for an oxcart factory, there were very few tabletop oxcarts available for sale or any oxcarts for sale for that matter. Lots of other tat though.
I used the ladies room while I was there. I don't know what it is with Costa Rica and rest rooms. Every one I used seemed to think lighting was an option. You literally used the rest room with only the light available from the outside!

I have visited the Orosi Valley a few times. It is one of my girlfriend's favorite places in Costa Rica. Rightly so! The river valley is beautiful, the Mountains are awesome. The small towns and villages are friendly and welcoming.

The forest was refreshing. There was natural habitat everywhere. We saw different kinds of animals and creatures on the hiking trail . The staff was very knowledgeable and professional. After hiking and zip-lining a very tasty and nutritious meal was served. If you are an outdoors person this will be the perfect activity for you while in Costa Rica. This was an adventure of a life time.

We are a sustainable organic coffee farm. We have been using sustainably organic practices for over fourteen years. Today we are happy to consider ourselves environmentalists first, and coffee farmers second.
This place is great! It’s secluded but can easily find on Waze. Such knowledgeable farmers; I’m so happy they allowed us to see into their ways of farming. Walking around the farm and seeing the biodiversity was so much fun! Highly recommend this tour! Also we signed up for the lunch and I’m so glad we did; it was mucho delicioso!! :)

This little town is a perfect stop on the way from San Jose to the Arenal volcano region. The town's central square is just incredible with one of the most beautifully landscaped Gardens I have seen anywhere. It’s well worth a visit. At one end of the square is a church which is also quite beautiful.

This garden is a hidden treasure in Sarchi, where everyone instead goes to the oxcart factory. If you like Gardens, you will love this place, which rivals many more famous Gardens. It covers a large section of a huge floral export operation and you have to check in with a guard to have him open the gate. You drive only a block or so to the garden entrance and admission is only $6.00 per person. You receive a map to help lead you through the sections. I can’t begin to describe all the sections! They have a formal trimmed labyrinth, palms, bromeliads, a nursery, several vine-covered archways, a pond with an overlook platform, succulents, and everywhere, flowers, flowers, flowers. The trails range from easy walking to some steeper rocky areas. A paved road allows access to most of the garden for those who have difficulty getting around. Most of the garden is shady and we saw mounds of bright impatiens, salvia, petunias, hydrangeas, and other flowers. Words can’t do them justice. Arriving in late morning, we saw dozens of butterflies, but I imagine there must be equal numbers of birds at the right time of day. The garden has plenty of bathrooms, an area for weddings and other celebrations, a large picnic area for families, and a big new playground for children that has ladders, climbing nets with platforms, and even what looked like a kid-size zipline. This garden was one of the highlights of our tour and we spent over two hours here. Don’t miss this one!

Whether you are looking for transportation from location to another in Costa Rica or if you are looking to coordinate where to stay or to go on a tour, Wilson and Elsy can help you and make sure that all your needs are met.
We meant Wilson 7 years ago during our first trip to Costa Rica and he made us fall in love with the country the second we arrived at the airport. Even going from one destination to another, Wilson shares what he knows about his country, the people, the land, and different points of reference along the way. This is not the U.S. People here pride themselves on where they are from and want you to enjoy taking in the scenery and learning about them. Wislon stopped with us to eat, brought us to the grocery store, and ensured other transfers were arranged.
We just returned from C.R. again, 7 years later, and Elsy and Wilson coordinated our pick ups between Liberia and Samara/Carrillo Bay. We were so lucky to see Wilson again and to learn even more. The country remains "pura vida" and Wislon is a true testament to that. He surrounds himself with good people and no doubt can help you have a perfect experience while visiting.

A quaint local spot....beautiful location, and majestic waterfall awaits. c4,000 seemed a bit high to pay, but we did, and had a delightful time.

While educating the public about local wildlife, this zoo also breeds endangered animals for eventual release to the wild.
Our visit to Zoo Ave began with an introductory film explaining the Mission of Central America's largest wildlife rescue center. The goals of the center are to rescue, rehabilitate, and reintegrate animals into their natural environment, as well as to breed endangered animals for release into the wild. The center receives about 2000 animals a year. About 2% of the animals remain in the zoo as permanent residents, the most famous of which is Grecia, a female toucan who was fitted with a prosthetic beak after an animal cruelty incident.
The park has beautiful botanical Gardens with more than 125 species of birds, reptiles, and mammals in natural enclosures. The park is completely accessible, has a small gift shop, and a restaurant on-site. As part of our tour, we enjoyed a delicious Costa Rican lunch buffet. This unique zoo park is well worth the visit!

This giant, brightly colored oxcart is across from a beautiful church in the central park of Sarchi. The beautiful, intricate painting on the cart is outstanding and provides a wonderful example of the talent of the artists in this small historic town. The only down side is that the cart is in a sheltered pavilion, which makes getting a good picture difficult. Definitely worth stopping to see.
