The Royal Monastery of Sant Cugat is one of the most important examples of medieval art in Catalonia and is catalogued as a National asset of cultural heritage. The Romanic cloister is the most notable element because of its structure and its decoration made up of 144 capitals, all different. It is considered one of the best of Europe. The ensemble of rich architectural value, has its origin in the IX century during which is was founded. It was named Octavià at the time and there existed a paleochristian church and Benedictine monastery that has undergone different changes during the centuries. The medieval monastery was a walled architectural structure that due to the events of 1714 and later expropriations has been reduced to the parts left today to see: the Octavià Plaza, The Main Door, a good part of the walls from the XIV Century, the bell tower and Romanic remains, the cloister rooms, the Abbey Palace and the church of Sant Pere. Guided tours to the Monastery may be booked. The church has been an uninterrupted place of worship since 1833. The cloisters house the Monastery Museum, where you can visit a permanent exposition about the architectural evolution of the abbey and the most significant aspects of its Benedictine community.

The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.
No need to review this iconic building. For sure if you visit Barcelona this is on top of your itinerary. Just wanted to remind everyone that one need Reservations to enter the building. We were lucky that we still could see the inside at the last hours of our 3 day stay. As it was sold out for all the time before. Can be done online or at any tourist station.

Best pub in town. Night bar. Open 7 seven days a week. No food, only driks, specially imported beers and whisky. Nice atmosphere, good craic! Sometimes, live music.

The scale of this natural monument is quite special. It's probably the biggest tree I've seen and the support struts around it only add to the spectacle. It's not the coolest thing in Sant Cugat but it's probably worth a cheeky peek. It's a bloody big tree.

Exhibition centre for Performances and rental of venues for companies.
Ths theatre also doubles up as a concert hall.
It is probably best for Opera or musicals, although stand up comics also do well here.
The booking office is hidden, next door to the cinema and they do offer interesting discount booklets if you go at the beginning of the season.
The bar, once inside the Auditori, Is cozy and also has food available (though I have never tried it)
Opposite the Auditori is a whole area full of bars, restaurants and live music at weekends.
Enjoy!

Stunning outside, unimaginable inside!
We stayed outside rather than brave the crowds on a holiday weekend, but even from outsude this is a stunning mirage of curves and sublime imagination. Morning gives you better light on the façade.

A small chapel of Medieval origin located in the middle of the Gausac Valley, in the Collserola hills. Built in the Romanesque (10th C), it was essentially modified by a renovation in the 15th C. There's a relief representing the Holy Trinity with the inscription Anno Dominio 1447 in Gothic lettering on the keystone of the portal. A beautiful broad space only for pedestrians just between the Monestir and the Old Market. There are plenty of shops and bars and restaurants around. Most of the surrounding streets are only for pedestrians, making Sant Cugat's downtown a space for the people.
