The castle offers an English audio tour (for free), which if you take the time will teach you a substantial amount about the importance of the Saga district of Japan in the 1800's.
When we visited at the end of December, there were hardly any other visitors/tourists, so it was very delightful.

Space and windows and scenery. They are not focused on Observatory. They doesn't care a lick about it. Just a space.

We visited it as it is just 10 mins from the佐賀城本丸歴史館. It is the main shrine of Saga, . Easy to access as it is along main road, and the flattering red banners plus the canon placed near the entrance adds touch of importance.
[We read that it is a yearly event in which a canon shot is fired for celebration held here at the shrine to usher in New Year at the midnight of December 31st]
Its foundations were laid before WW2 and it is well known as it enshrines Naomasa Nabeshima and Naohiro Nabeshima, both Lords of the Nabeshima Domain whom are prominent figures in the region. Many people will visit the shrine during New Year Day every year, but on normal days the shrine has a secluded, quiet and holy atmosphere to itself.
It was about 5:05pm when we reached and we were glad the keeper did not chase us away. So peaceful except another 2 worshippers. I made my quick prayer, Shinto style, and left.

We visited in June 2016. stopping by on our road trip enroute from Fukuoka to Nagasaki, and had the best time here. It's a lovely farm that's build upon rolling hills. The guide brought us around to the animal sheds - goats, cows, and baby animals - rabbits, Guinea pigs and kids (baby goats). The children got to feed the animals while the adults took in the great view and fresh air. The guide was exceptionally kind and tried his best to converse with us in English.
we also loaded up on our favourite snacks made from local produce - lots of cheese snacks and also jams. The restaurants here look good but if you feel like something more local and authentic, ask the manager about this fantastic soba joint that's just 5min away!
They don't see a lot of international visitors here at Dongurimura Leisure Park, but it's well worth a visit if you have young children.

This museum is a collection of historic buildings. Although there is really not much to see, my kids found it fun to wander around.
A very nice lady, I guess she's a guide for tourists though she could hardly speak any English, pointed us to a restaurant which housed Pepper the robot. Which became the highlight of my kid's trip. The robot was cute and could hug and dance.
