Dog's Bay Beach

This beach is just beautiful.
The sand is so white and the water so clear.
It is a large beach and wasn't over crowded.
Located on the Wild Atlantic Way it is pretty remote and not too far from the village of Roundstone which seems to be a nice village.
One note I would like to make is the car park. It could be bigger and could do with a few more bins.

Roundstone Ceramics

We have been making unique porcelain and stoneware in Roundstone since 1981. Rosemarie O'Toole decorates porcelain thrown by her husband Seamus Laffan. She also makes an extensive range of porcelain jewellery. Her artwork on paper is available framed and unframed. A wide range of durable handmade tiles decorated by Rosemarie is on offer & we can design plaques for house names or business use. We also make a wide range of distinctive domestic stoneware and are happy to take on orders for same. Our work is available exclusively from our studio, opening daily 10-6. Off season please ring to confirm but we are there most days. It should not be confused with the imported industrial ware sold as ' Roundstone Pottery ' throughout the country since 2011, which has no connection with us or this village.

Stopped in after my husband bought his souvenir next door at the Bodhrán shop. Small workshop/store where I found beautiful, earthy pottery at reasonable prices. I bought two pieces for myself and a few gifts for people back home. Not the usual kitschy stuff of typical souvenir shops. Beautiful colors and glazes. Very friendly owners.

It seems touristic at first site (may be it is), but it was full of locals when we were there, the chowder and bread were to die for, the barman very nice, and the beer and cider great. The atmosphere was quite nice and enjoyable. A stop for anyone around the area.

Wild Atlantic Adventures Ltd. - Day Tours

Wild Atlantic Adventures is an adventure tourism provider in Connemara, West of Ireland, focusing on marine and countryside activities. Our signature product is a traditional sailing adventure aboard a Galway Hooker.

The red sail of the hooker is a symbol of Galway and it's great that Wild Atlantic Adventures have pioneered their availability to tourists. My 12 yo niece and I had this beautiful boat to ourselves but up to 10 can go at once. More of our family enjoyed watching the boat on the harbour from O'Dowd's cafe. They say they will take people of any age and as long as you can climb a ladder down off the pier and duck under the boom the 2 hour trip in Roundstone harbour would suit anyone. Macdara made the day by letting my niece help with the tiller and sails. It's worth doing the trip to Roundstone (which according to my niece looks like Balamory from BBC kids TV) just for this. The scenery of Mountains, gorse bushes and stone walls, deserted Islands and the cute town of Roundstone is fantastic.

We have visited here many times over the years. Come and see Bohdruns made as well as other instruments. Have a go at playing something new! Cafe attached. I must say though, we called by expecting it to be closed, being March. No one was in and we didn't stay long. My complaint is that my husband was desperate for a toilet, having prostate problems. He was charged €1 just to use the toilet not impressed.

I had a good look on the stock. I felt the range of goods didn't inspire me to buy unfortunately. More display of local work would be good. I would have like to try on the Jack Murphy raincoat but no small sizes. Great location and good for soaps etc.
