Julius Banfai was telling me that when he was growing up in Crystal Beach, an annual feature of the Labour Day festivities was to take a coffin, set it ablaze and push it out into Lake Erie as the symbolic burial of summer. Apparently the tradition has gone by the wayside because the kids got frightened by the coffin! I missed the parade this year but heard it was a great success with parachuters dropping in along the route. I hope to make the event next year!

Great shows in a lovely venue! I have attended everything from rock Concerts to art festivals to casual dinners and have always been inspired by the beautiful building, the simple elegant interior and the very professional (yet also community minded) management. The Sanctuary and Brimstone add vibrancy to our local community!

I came during Customer Appreciation Day as the admission fee was only $5. The place was packed out! It was a beautiful hot day.
It was great that the park was operating the maximum number of trams for all the people that were there. A few times I had to wait for two trams to go by before getting a seat.
I didn't use the food facilities because the were so expensive. (ie bottle of water $3).
I went primarily for photography ops. While there were lots of animals, there were not that many good opportunities for two reasons: 1. It was a hot day, many of the animals had left the open outdoors to go into their shelters; 2. Most of the animals are behind fencing that interferes with photography. On that note, it's apparent the park did not think too carefully about enclosure structures. Many of them had large cross beams that were about 5 feet from the ground right in the way of most camera angles to the animals. I'm now rethinking if I should purchase an annual membership next year.
It's a great park for families and just about anyone wanting a great day out but if one is going for the photo ops, they will be disappointed.

Had a great visit to Fort Erie this pm. The fort is pretty cool and the guys and girls in period costume really made it come to life. Good audio visual displays with some interactive exhibits. The musket firing display was fun and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Oh and a great ice cream on the way out.

As I passed the Pleasant Beach Campground, I noticed that my destination was straight ahead. I parked my car, greeted a man with his son and headed to the beach. There was a boardwalk, which was mostly hidden by sand. I noticed that there was a fence on both sides. That didn’t look good!
The beach was quite small, but the sand was quite soft between the toes. There was quite a lot of wind, which created waves from the Lake Erie. I had gone down from a dune, but there were even more dunes on both sides of this beach. However, it was private domain.
I still enjoyed feeling the touch of sand, the waves and the Sunshine. There is beauty everywhere after all!

Great place to get an ice cream and watch the ships. The nicest candy shop is right along the canal by the bridge. Great way to spend an hour or so.

Three magnificent falls, two American and one Canadian, mark the point at which the Niagara River rumbles over the Niagara Escarpment.
Always a Treat and a Wonder to see whenever we visit the region. It is always a different experience in each of the 4 seasons. The lights at night are fun to see as well. The power of nature at its best!

We knew nothing about the history of Canada and this Museum helped to start our information gathering. It was interesting for general events surrounding battles 1812-1866 in the Niagara Peninsular. The curator working there was very helpful with our questions. Thank you.
