Gorgeous long waterfront Promenade. Right at the water's edge are severamente beach bars great first aperitivo (happy hour drinks) or lounge on the beach after taking a dip in sea at one of the private beach lounges. Was there during the day but could see it as a very romantic sunset walk.

The Magna Grecia denotation is among other things an exceptional appellation in the sense that transcends national boundaries and nationalism as such. Italy with this museum and the Egyptioan in Torino is a world leader in sensitive unassuming serious presentations. The richness, texture, materials, geography are impressive and didactic. The museum is not crammed or grandstanding in any of its constituents. The building is solid and not meuseumesque. The personal, notation, framing are pleasant and do nt intervene or meddle.
The Riace duet is something worth coming to Italy for and you shall read the story and reflect on form, technique, beauty, history of and kinetic geometry.

This ancient Greek theater replica is in the central part of Reggio's Lungo Mare, seaside Promenade. It's certainly one of the highlights and Reggio's landmarks.
The bronze statue of goddess Athena protects the people of Reggio, and is a perfect photo spot with Sicily in the background.

Definitely the best Ice Cream of Reggio Calabria. Soft, tasty, with numerous cool flavours, this became my favourite spot in the city. This place stand out from the other Gelateries based on pure quality. The best combination, in my opinion, is the "Spagnola" (cherry and cream based) and "Cesarella" (nutella based). Fantastic.

I found the inscription - ΠΕΡΙΕΛΘΟΝΤΕΣ ΚΑΤΗΝΤΗΣΑΜΕΝ ΕΙΣ ΡΗΓΙΟΝ - above the portico strangely moving. It is from Acts, and records in plain, simple language (probably the words of St Luke) the arrival, one day two thousand years ago, of the ship carrying St Paul to Rome.
(Another person from ancient times associated with Reggio was Ibycus, once reckoned among the very greatest of Greek poets, who was born here, but when I asked nobody had heard of him.)

We found out about this place because of the people in the Riace museum. We were the only two people walking around. You go through thesis front door into an acquaintance room, the you'll see a spiral glass staircase to get to the second floor. It was a pleasant surprise, free, and interesting to see more artists from the region.

This tour is not suitable for women, visiting on their own. One of the old tour guides is very unprofessional in his behavior and can't keep his hands to himself. Although the tour is free, you get a very unpleasant experience in return.

The Chiesa degli Ottimati is very small and simple. They preserve a beautiful picture in the front altar. Inside, in a room on the left there are posters telling the history of this church.
