Thanks to the very professional and friendly services of Roxana and Ricardo we saw an amazing array of birds and sealife, cormorants (grey & black), various gulls, oyster-catchers, petrels, Magellanic penguins. The half day at the Isla Pingüinos was excellent, the Rockhopper penguins are so amusing and you can sit there unhurried watching them go about their daily routine. Also, there is a colony of male sealions and elephant seals, although you do need to beware of the skuas protecting their territory. Roxana has a great understanding of their habits and is enthusiastic to share this in an unobtrusive way.

If You want to see penguins (Magellan & ROCKHOPPERS!) you have to visit Isla Pingüino from Puerto Deseado - for me it was an experience of a life-time! We also saw dolphins, seals, cormorants, albatrosses, skuas, etc. To see the island You have to join a tour. I recommend Darwin Expeditions in Puerto Deseado. Their team is amazing, bilingual and very professional!

The train museum is a very interesting site.
A place with historic objects and the station is kept identical to the original.
Caregivers also museum, although not completely professional, have a positive attitude to every question or issue infomativa.
We found books featuring the license and where the personal data of many immigrants who come from different countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Spain, etc) had given their lives for the contruction of the train.
Very interesting bar, and dipensario place.
A place not to miss.
Two details to address in the future. 1 - Slight indication on the Indians of the area. The Patagonians, seemed tehuelches not exist in these lands. Two. The invisibility of the most important slaughter of workers existed in Patagonia. Given the importance of this station had for killing workers.

The evening before the excursion was supposed to be the guide confirmed the trip and told us to show up the next morning.
When we arrived the following morning, no one was there. The Los Vikingos staff next door told us that there is no excursion done by Puerto Penacho this day. There weren't enough participants.
Our guide didn't tell us, just to avoid that we would look for another operator (although they had all our contact data).
Because the tour with Los Vikingos was booked out and this was our last day in town, we didn't go for the trip and saw no penguins!
Unfortunately nobody of the staff showed up for the whole day, so we couldn't face them with our disappointment!

Otra excursión que realizamos con la gente de Darwin Expediciones, es un recorrido más corto (de un par de horas) por la ría donde vimos toninas overas, lobos marinos, cormoranes gris, roquero e imperial. Un lindo paseo que no hay que perderse para ver naturaleza.

Wow. Thank you so much to Chantelle and Claudio for the most memorable wildlife experience. Within 2 minutes of leaving the mooring we encountered dolphins. The wildlife experiences continued for the next two hours: colonies of lobos marinos - seal lions, penguionos - penguins and many different species of pajaros - cormorant birds (7 species) and turns. the opurtunity to land on the island and be very close to the penguins was a special oppurtunity and to share Mate made the trip more of a community experience. thank you for sharing your little slice of Paradise. Also for your very clearexplaination of how there is so much wildlife in this river and how you are conserving and looking after it. I will be sharing this experience with many people and hope they alos have the oppurtunity to come and join you on Viking

Esta ubicada a pocos kilómetros de la ciudad de Puerto Deseado. Lugar importante para los creyentes. Se hacen peregrinaciones todos los años. Lamentable el estado de Paredes y pisos donde muchos visitantes han dejado sus huella con pintadas. Esto a pesar de los carteles que piden que no lo hagan. Un fuerte ventarrón nos obligo a retirarnos a poco de haber llegado.

Este museo posee una colección de herramientas indígenas en piedra digna de visitar, además de conocer la historia de la Swift, hundida en la ría Deseado y poder apreciar el excelente estado en que se encuentran las piezas rescatadas de la misma, al igual que la belleza de ciertas piezas. Vale la pena visitarlo!

Para llegar hay que hacer unos 90 km desde Puerto Deseado, pero vale la pena. Parte del camino es de ripio y está en buenas condiciones. Por la ruta provincial 281, pasando la localidad de Tellier, esta la bajada al ripio. Está bien señalizada. Hay que llevar alimentos y bebidas porque no hay lugar para comprar o comer. La entrada es gratuita. En el trayecto se puede divisar una gran salina, que nos quedó por visitar. Se atraviesan varias estancias, separadas por guardaganados.
En la distancia se puede divisar el faro instlado sobre el cabo rocoso. Para acceder al mismo hay que subir unos cien escalones El faro fue construido en 1915. Allí arriba esta también la casa del guardafaros.
La vista es única. En una isla del frente hay una colonia de lobos marinos de dos pelos. Hacia la izquierda se encuentra una playa, que por el día ventoso que nos toco, estaba con mucho oleaje. Sobre el otro lado hay otra que está al resguardo donde se puede pescar tranquilamente. Sobre la costa y en los islotes cercanos se pueden ver numerosas especies de aves. Hay una zona llamada El soplador, porque cuando sube la marea al pasar entre las piedras produce chorros de agua con espuma. En el lugar hay también una edificación que corresponde a una estafeta de correo de esa época. También hay un pequeño Cementerio con unas pocas cruces.
Un lugar muy tranquilo, con poca gente, para pasar medio día o el día completo y sacar cientos de fotos.

A unos 40 kilómetros al oeste de Puerto Deseado, se vislumbra un cañadón rojizo de cientos de metros de altura, con un hilo de agua. La ría se convierte en río Deseado,la vista es inmejorable
