we took a small detour to come here between Valencia and Tortosa...glad we made the effort to have a wander here and look up the viewpoint/castle and related history.
The castle is a nice slow climb from the beach area and a nice mini workout in the summer hear. Most visitors were certainly pumping sweat on the walk around.
You can access the very top by small walk ways and steps...make the effort as the views are splendid.
The building has been gracefully restored and is well kept. The small entrance fee is worth it.

What a delightful drive along the coast up to spectacular vantage points with views to die for!
The drive is not for the faint hearted, some very tight bends and drops!
The coves for swimming and snorkelling are stunning! The fish were stunning.
We drove into the hills on roads which are not really roads, my advice walk or cycle or possibly a trail bike with supplies as nothing around for miles. Worth the visit.

This is just a statue. The history is interesting and it makes an interesting picture but there is much more to this place than just this. Visit the castle and walk the tiny alley ways in the evening and it's then worth it.

Badum is a small microbrewery, located in the center of Peniscola. It offers to visitors know the process of brewing and the opportunity to taste their craft beer.
Great to see this microbewery in Peniscola. It is run by a family and they were producing beer when we called in. The son told us he had recently come back from UK where he visited two beweries. It was lovely to speak to the producers and although our Spanish is poor, it wasn't a problem as the son's English was very good.
There is beer on tap inside, and small Seating areas inside and out. You also can buy the beer in bottles to take away. We bought beers to take away - the artichoke beer for me, which was very enjoyable, and for my husband a pilsner type beer, which he said was excellent - all "cerveza artesana".
We will definitely be going there again.
We also noticed a Badum shop in the old town by the sea wall which sells beers, and Badum t-shirts and necklaces!

Very nice beach and a fantastique view to the castle and the old town of Peniscola, many restaurants, terraces, and a nice Promenade, to stroll in the nice atmosphere;
Years ago, I was there with my parents, and it was a big fiesta in town in the mid of august, and it was a corrida, I saw a corrida on the beach, it was only the little wall from the beach, to protect the spectators. Young men, were running verv wild for her life.; for them it was exciting.
Three bulls on the beach, in bullfight. I never forget this spectacle; In the region of Castellon all is firefull, fiery.

This church is located in the médieval village in the entrance to the castel, very nice ancient stone construction, nice typical spanish architecture; for the patronales feasts, there are processions with the local music, the common autorities and many people.
it was an enorm and great feast, that was quite an experience.

De très loin on peut observer le far de Peniscola; c'est très beau la nuit, le far vert illuminé, qui jette son mot clé, et son impression; très belle construction en pierres blanches, merit une visite.
