This is a wonderful museum. It houses the Hedman collection and this used to be their home. There are period rooms and hundreds of art works, Finnish and some masters, including an Etruscan piece. There are ceramics and silver as well. The Hedmans had a large and varied collection. There are details in multiple languages in each of the rooms. The museum also has a geological history, including an excellent 15 minute video in several languages. Natural history of the region is another interesting section. The people at the desk are well informed and one of them described the Hedmans in great detail for us. We would never have known about the Etruscan piece had he not searched us out and offered to answer questions. We really appreciated that.

Terranova is one of three permanent exhibits in the OstroBothnian Museum. We visited the museum specifically to see Terranova and it did not disappoint. The presentation of the geological phenomenon of the Kvarken Archipelago was engaging and interesting. We also learnt a lot about the Gulf of Bothnia, the Bothnian Sea and the Baltic Sea and what makes them special. The ecology, the flora and the fauna of the region were also interestingly presented. Best of all, it was compact and not too complicated or detailed for a lay person. We would highly recommend Terranova for anyone interested in geography (not necessarily just the region). It is possibly the best museum dedicated to geography and geology that we have seen anywhere.

The original church burned and rebuilt in 1700. This over 300 yeard old church is mainly open in summertime and not used as a traditional church. If you visit the town, you might feel interested in more details of this building as it has a very long history. I have seen the church daily for decades so I used to be very used to it, but know when visiting, it has to be shown to children. Recommend for couples and family with smaller children.

This site is well worth visiting as it has a great physical/visual timeline of the AU's and the size of the planets along Loisketie (road) for relative enormity of the size of the sun and the other planets and their relative sizes. The Observatory was NOT open when we visited, but apparently has a telescope inside for studying celestial bodies hundreds of millions of light years out into the universe. There is an observation tower on site that is open all the time and provided us with great views of the magnitude of the impact zone and the birds that feed in the fields.

Well worth going in to get a flavor of older Vaasa. One gets a sense of why Vaasa served as capital for a while. Walk up the staircase, look at the main hall, then go out and appreciate the building

Tropiclandia has seen its best days, there is no denying it. Still, on a warm and sunny day, the addon value from the outdoor park is significant. But, on a colder day, you will be pushed back inside by the cold winds blowing from the nearby sea. Interior is showing wear and tear, but the pool itself is nice and warm. They should really consider cutting down the entry price (23e per person, also from kids) as that is just too high for this place. Maybe that's why during our visit the spa was quite empty.

Come and experience life as it may have been at the turn of the 20th century in the countryside in Ostrobothnia. Stundars open air museum consists of seventy buildnings that have all been relocated from villages in Korsholm and the Vaasa region. There is a country shop, a village school and a farmhouse as wess as many artisans' workshops and crofters' cottages.
Stundars isn't very big. It has a fair amount of houses but the area itself won't keep you busy for more than maybe an hour. If you go with a group you can get a guided tour.
What I like to do after I've visited is go to the cafe/gift shop and buy something to eat and drink. From the gift shop you can buy things like candy, books and soaps.
What's great about Stundars is that they often arrange events and fairs there and on these occasions the atmosphere is usually great. Therefore I would advice people to try and visit when there is an event of some kind.

This art museum is big and architecturally beautiful building. This time there was an exhibiton of one person. Luckily I visited in there during the celebration of Vaasa, so there we no entrance fee - like usually. The place has a small museum shop, but this time the cafeterias was not open.
