Our recent visit to Port Carling for the first time, what a lovely little town.
Lots of great shopping, boutiques, cafe's, restaurants, all surrounded by water and boats.
Worth the drive, lots to see and do.
Many arrive by boat through the docks, small little beach and park for kids and picnics.
We will be back for sure.

Muskoka Lakes Winery produces exceptional wines from locally grown fruit. Enjoy the daily 'Bog to Bottle Discovery' (guided tour and tutored wine tasting) at 1 pm - designated a Canadian Signature Experience by Canada Tourism! Other 'must dos' include wine and cheese on the patio, shopping for local goodies, hiking or snowshoeing on the Cranberry Trails, GPS discoveries and kids' adventures. Open daily, year round (Mon-Sat 9-5, Sun 11-4). Located four minutes north of Bala in scenic Muskoka.
We popped in for a visit in March. Not prime winery season!! But they were open, offering tours, tastings and the chance to sit in Muskoka chairs around a campfire to enjoy a gorgeous, sunny "tail end of winter" kind of afternoon. Candace was the charming, knowledgeable young lady who hosted our tasting. She's a keeper. We loved the wine, although it probably wouldn't be to everyone's taste. The little gift shop has some cute stuff. The venue would probably be gorgeous and far more interesting at a different time of year, but we could still appreciate the views.

We used to hike this trail at least once every summer. Last summer we were shocked to see people drinking alcohol in front of their tents all along the trail with their laundry hanging in the bushes. (Where did they wash them?) Garbage was littered along the trail. This is probably a popular spot now because there is no fee and a short walk in from the parking lot. We won't go back until some enforcement is evident to keep this beautiful spot pristine and camper free.

It is nice that this landmark is still
Around. The history of this place is pretty awesome. Some of the greats have played here.
A new roof is being laid and the premises updated. The dock now offers yoga in the evening and the Concerts are second to none.
It needs a bit more updating but glad
To see it still around.

Well we have hiked here numerous times before so I am not sure how this happened. But there were a lot of fallen trees and debris and I feel like some of the markers were missing. We needed up going for close to three hours instead of the planned 45 min "stroll"
Yes if you follow he shorter route along the lake it is pretty and you can swim. There are a few boardwalks and beaver dams along the way.
Lots Of broken large trees so WatchOut

The Bala Museum is a hidden treasure. Linda and Jack were wonderful tour guides - friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. As well as experiencing some of Anne's antics first hand, we learned a lot of the history of LM Montgomery during her time in Bala and about events in her personal life that we never knew about. The Bala Museum is one of the few places where you can see LM Montgomery's COMPLETE collection of every book she has written. There is a warm tribute to Jonathan Crombie who, of course, played 'Gil' in the Canadian series. There is a lovely gift shop where I purchased a few special books and my very own Raspberry Cordial!

This unique museum set in such a picturesque location is most deserving of a visit. Every year there are new exhibits or themes to discover, with an emphasis on Muskoka. I particularly look forward to the summer lecture series with topics ranging from antique dolls to endangered turtles, as well as a visit each summer to a different Muskoka resort for an on-site lecture. Being in a wheelchair, I truly appreciate the accessibility of the building and the ramps that make it possible to explore the museum. The quaint gift shop offers treasures for all ages, as well as an impressive selection of loose teas. Do drop in for a fun and informative look back at life and leisure in Muskoka.

This is one of those places that makes you feel small and insignificant, lol. The age of the rock and it's size are fascinating when you think about it. The view was gorgeous and we got some amazing pictures. It's a fairly easy walk from the parking area, but not really do-able for anyone who has mobility limitations.

Beautiful area for a stop.
The people were very informative about the growing and cultivation of cranberries...found out information I had never known and was completely misinformed in the past.
They offered samples of almost everything available for purchase ensuring you make the best decision.
Juice is delicious, dark chocolate covered cranberries are amazing and cranberry tart was a great desert! And if we weren't traveling by motorcycle we would have purchased more but due to storage constraints it wasn't possible.
