We had a very good tour from mongui into paramo de oceta. Even if the weather wasn't so good with too much clouds, we enjoyed all the informations given about the muiscas, their stories and their social habits... Which were interesting to compare to ours...
Thanks again ;)

Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Mongui

i only peeked in because the basilica was closed (the star-shaped panels on the interior wood doors are mirrors except for the square-shaped panel in the middle with is glass and allows a nice view of the whole church). beautiful to be sure but what most impressed me about Mongui was the town square, the view from the town square, the nice locals, the statue in the square, and the soccer factories around the the plaza. We went to four little factories and saw them making soccer balls and there are some food options, too. not to be missed is the nearby puente de real calicanto. worth the 4 block walk.

We stayed at the wonderful La Casona de San Francisco de Asis half a block off the main square. Through this hotel we booked a full day walking tour with Maria Sosa (Facebook account: La Maruja Soto Sierra). Hands down it was one of the most memorable hikes I have ever taken. She is loaded with knowledge of the Muisca people that inhabit the area, their history, native plants and their uses. The scenery is stellar. Go before it gets ruined. The hike is difficult to do on your own. Without a guide, you'll certainly get either lost or you'll miss lots of tucked away stuff.

Puente Calicanto

Reviewed By LouenStephan - Belgium
