About me I was born in Tounfite, an area in the Mountains with a cold climate. I contracted polio at the age of three and since then I have been paralysed . But as I have grown up with this handicap, I do not let it slow me down. I make use of leg braces and crutches to assist my mobility. Surprisingly you may find it hard to keep up with me even when mountain hiking. Remember I grew up here and I’m used to the terrain. I do speak Tamazight (the Chleuh Dialect), Arabic, French, English and basic Dutch. As an active member of the Couchsurfing community I already welcome guests to Khenifra and Meknes, as well as hosting couchsurfers in my village in Tounfite and arranging tours for them all over Morocco if they want. My Mission is to develop and champion disabled-led tourism in Morocco. If you would like to explore the beauty of Morocco with me I would love to be your guide! Please feel free to contact me to explore the possibilities! Why I do this My Mission is to develop and succeed in a disabled-led tourism business in Morocco. I am building up a network to help disabled tourists enjoy the parts of Morocco they would normally not be able to see. It is my ambition to develop my own viable tourism business by providing information on accessible tourism for disabled people and persons with reduced mobility.
We had so much fun and felt so comfortable with Houssaine as we explored the Atlas, the Sahara, Marrakech with Houssaine......he is thoughtful, knowledgeable , speaks excellent English and is able to coordinate all the needed services.
His polio disability offers insight into a sensitive area of Moroccan life. We as able-bodied tourists felt our tour enhanced by sharing his unique point of view.
You'll enjoy your visit to Morocco with Houssaine . Bon voyage

Midelt seems to be in the midpoint between Fez and the desert town of Merzouga. We figured we'd stop for lunch, but our guidebook mentioned an embroidery workshop run by the last of the Franciscan nuns in an old convent in town. Nicole Debono continues to run the workshop. She's a third generation Morrocan of French descent and is the guiding hand that organizes the young girls who train in embroidery and rug making for as many as seven years before being certified as masters. It gives them a livelihood that helps keep them out of poverty while preserving these amazing traditional skills.
The quality of the workmanship (work-womanship) is superb. Beyond anything you'll see in the shops of Marrakech and Fez. Nicole explains and shows the process of how nearly everything is made.
If you're stopping in Midelt for any reason, it's worth stopping in at this workshop!

"I recently took a tour with Ismail as my guide through Morocco Atlas Tours. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. When I arrived at the airport, even though my flight was delayed by 2 hours, Ismail was there waiting for me with bottled water. It was such a treat to have a personal guide as I visited Morocco. I saw and experienced so much – rode camels, sand boarded in the Sahara, fed monkeys, saw ancient ruins in Volubilis, learned about olive oil production, visited the spice markets, and much more. The food in Morocco was amazing and we were able to go to different restaurants to experience the local flavor. It was an exceptional and absolutely a flawless tour – the most enjoyable I’ve ever had."
