Mevaseret Zion (Hebrew: מְבַשֶּׂרֶת צִיּוֹן) is a suburb of Jerusalem with the administrative status of a local council. Mevaseret Zion is composed of two distinct older townships, Maoz Zion and Mevaseret Yerushalayim, under the jurisdiction of one local council. The newer neighborhoods of Mevaseret Zion were not part of either settlement.

The hill rising over Road 1 has become a symbol of the struggle to break through to Jerusalem during the War of Independence. Between trenches and bunkers, the Castel Park is a hands-on memorial to one of the fascinating chapters of the war.
very close to Jerusalem, overlooking the entire area.
a place that holds a great story, history, tradition, nature, view & values for all the family .
not a long walk, but still exiting up & down the hill.
interactive, out door training games, sound and picture are all involved in the experience.

Yuval made this tour through Jerusalem an absolutely unforgettable experience, by combining an amazing historical knowledge with stories about the religious and mystical value of the most interesting places in Jerusalem. Certainly one of the most impressive places I've been to, with an excellent tour guide!

The Nahal Halilim starting next to the supermarket on Shalom street in Mevasseret is a nice nature walk for families going downhill, towards Emek Haarazim. On the way are caves on both sides rumored to give away a sound of flutes when the wind is the right strength. Arrange to have car parked at the end of the valley so you don't have to climb all the way back. Take a few hours to enjoy the walk.
