The star attractions of the area around Keswick are of course the Skiddaw Mountains and beautiful Derwentwater. Sports enthusiasts should plan their holiday for the month of May to take part in the Keswick Mountain Festival. If you are not a climber, you can enjoy the public parks, swimming pools and gardens of Keswick. For evening entertainment try the Theatre by the Lake or the cinema. Keswick has a superb choice of eateries that cater to all tastes.

Want to take some alpacas out for a walk? Of course you do! and now you can! Alpacaly Ever After are thrilled to offer alpaca walks around the stunning grounds of the Lingholm estate along the shores of the famous Derwent Water. Walk through private grounds closed to the general public, where Beatrix Potter spent many of her summers! Get to know our wonderful alpacas up close, take them for a paddle (or a swim) in the lake, meet the herd and take part in feeding time and ask as many questions as you can think of! Walks last around an hour and a half.
Where to start! If you are thinking about booking but are unsure, I highly recommend getting yourself booked on as soon as possible!
Terry, our tour guide, is an absolute credit to the estate. He is very welcoming, extremely knowledgable and more importantly unbelievably passionate about the purpose of what it is Alpacaly Ever After is offering.
Priest was a dream, he walked with no trouble what so ever and was also very friendly. The tour itself lasts around an hour and half and there is so much to see and learn. (I won't give anything away).
This was booked as a part valentines day present for my girlfriend and she absolutely loved it.
Also, for before and after the tour there is a lovely cafe with a gift shop which I highly recommend visiting.
We will definitely be returning later in the year.
Until then, thank you so much for a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

The two summits of Cat Bells are an ideal introduction to Lakeland fell walking, providing an instant incline,a minor scramble and amazing views across Derwent Water, the Newlands Valley,Whinlatter,Skiddaw and Blencathra. The walk can be made into either a short or long walk. After conquering Cat Bells, you could either descend left or right.Left, down to Derwent Water orright into Little Town ( home of the Beatrix Potter characters). To continue would take you on to Maiden Moor then High Spy and you could include Dale Head which has spectacular views back down Newlands. You could continue to include Hindsgarth or Robinson or both, either one leads you back down into Newlands and a walk back to your starting point at the base of Cat Bells.

Another of the Lake District gems. Explore around the lake or take the boat trip, both are excellent ways to explore the area.

To get to Walla Crag you walk through a wooded area then it opens up on to The Crag, A challenging but achievable climb for most abilities. Descent was steeper and more difficult than expected as took wrong direction instead of heading to Ashness Bridge. Took lower paths back to Keswick - a good day out

Theatre by the Lake has a setting on the shores of Derwentwater no other professional theatre in Britain can match. Each year it stages up to nine of its own productions of classic, modern and new plays on its two stages and has won multi-starred reviews from national critics. It also hosts festivals of literature, jazz, film and Mountains. There are lifts to all levels and wheelchair users can get to all front-of-house and backstage areas. Both auditoria have enhanced-hearing and induction loop systems.
Theatre by the Lake is, quite rightly, one of the most iconic venues in the Lake District and one of the most important assets to Keswick. We visited the Spotlight Cafe today and, frankly, wished we had gone elsewhere. Yes, it was clean, tidy and...MoreThank you for your comments, we're sorry that you did not enjoy your visit to our cafe/restaurant. We take customer service very seriously and will use your comments to inform our catering partners staff training and development

The lake is one of the quieter expanses of water in the area although bank side access is poor compared to some.

Perhaps we'd been to too many amazing places in England already, but it was a bit disappointing to visit Castlerigg Stone Circles. We finally managed to find it outside Keswick and find a place to park. It was raining so that also might have influenced the feeling. It was good that you could walk right up to the stones and visualize what it must have been like - but there were no markers or explanations of any kind to tell more about it.

Dating from about 3000 BC, this is one of the first stone circles built in Britain, which is perched atop a high moor with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
As part of the Mountain Goat 10 lakes tours we stopped here - it is a ring of stones bounded by the Valleys and Mountains nearby - Increadible to see that people built this here so many years ago - just to see the size of the stones.
Understand that this is packed at summer and winter solstice
Great views across the Valleys from here !

Honister Slate Mine is a unique award winning experience, England's last remaining working slate mine and England's very first Via Ferrata!!
We took the mine tour with Donald who was incredibly knowledgeable. Enjoyed it a lot but make sure you are WELL wrapped up.Its really cold in there especially when you're standing still .Wear good shoes, the outside walk to the bus back is short, but was icy with the recent snow. The mine is going to change at Easter with 2 screens inside showing info about the mine.Didnt have time to look at the shop as we wanted to get out of honiston pass before dark but looked good.

A beautiful small park with a little stream running through it adding to the character of the park. There is a pitch and putt course as well as a childrens play area....and if that fails to entertain,Derwentwater is yards away.Car parking is a few feet away at reasonable cost and blue badge owners park for free.
