We came here for a family activity. 50 min drive. Small bag of Apple 16$, 12 fresh donuts 12$, 2 hot dog, 1 Italian sausage, 1 October fest sausage 20.35$. The place is well run, fun activity but the food is super pricy.

Roughly 40 minutes from Ottawa (and worth every minute of the drive) sits a rustic little winery with a twist: they make fruit wines instead of the kind from grapes. And not just any fruit wines, but really, really GOOD ones. Especially their cranberry. And their blueberry. And their ginger. And their...oh, heck. You really need to go and see (and taste!) for yourself. Oh, and be prepared to stay for a little while, because the proprietor is delightfully charismatic, the atmosphere most welcoming, and the light jazz quite seductive. We will definitely be going back...more than once!

Baxter Conservation Area is a quick half hour drive from Ottawa on the 416 that leads you to a nice sandy beach on the Rideau River and a wetlands conservation area complete with trails and visitor centre. Big grassy expanses, trees and forest, as well as a covered group picnic area add to the space for exploration and play. It's a nice way to spend an afternoon close to Ottawa. Cost is six dollars per car. Bring bug spray if you're walking in the forest! Group camping is available on request.

Bought a pass on Groupon for Saunders Country Critters because we wanted to explore our region in and around Ottawa. What a nice surprise it turned out to be! This is a small private zoo with animals you don’t normally see in a commercial zoo. Skunks, goats, dingos, lynx, lemurs, etc. We arrived around 11am, just in time to follow the feeding ritual with the owner. Congrats to them for sheltering these wonderful animals. Take the time to read Elvis, the Bald Eagle’s story. Heartwarming to say the least!

Genny and George are great hosts and guides and run a family oriented kayak, stand up paddle boards and canoe rental place on the South Branch of the Rideau River in Kemptville just off Hwy 416. If you are a beginner, this is a great and safe place to start. If you are an experienced kayaker, you can challenge yourself to paddle all the way up to the Rideau River and beyond. Wildlife is plentiful and I have seen my share of herons, turtles, otters and even a beaver. Motorized boat traffic is low to non existent most of the time.
They also have Paddle Fit classes and organized trips. After paddling, I usually drop by Brewed Awakenings for a Chai Latte. I find an hour paddling is very relaxing and therapeutic.

We used one of their high quality kayaks for a local Kayak Poker Run last weekend - they were super knowledgeable, helpful, generous & friendly. They have a full barn full of varies styles & shapes of kayaks & canoes. Close distance to Ottawa and very near the Rideau. Check it out!

The Kemptville Crafters' Market in located in a bright, ground level store. We are open 7 days a week
It is a terrible location stuck in the basement. There are many vendors but only one or two that I thought was interesting especially the rejuvenated wood furniture. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking out front. I have been there twice to see if new...MoreThank you for your input. We are now in a much better location at 209 Sanders St, and we would love if you would come and view our bright, ground level, completely accessible location.

I have been going to this studio since July 2015 initially for line dancing, then switched to tap dancing and then attending other classes as I find time around my busy schedule. They have drop-in rates so this makes it very convenient and ranges from $5/class for Night Time Aerobics to $20-$30 for special Saturday one-time longer workshops by guest dancers (e.g. Burlesque, Hip Hop or Afro-Cuban dance styles). There is an instructor that comes in to teach ballroom and adult ballet and other instructors for Pilates, yoga, drum-fit, etc...It never gets boring.
The focus of this place is the over 30 crowd so they have a special floor that flexes so it is easier on the hips and knees. Plenty of parking. There are washrooms and a change room. Their website has a link to their schedule and all their current events. They are also on Facebook.
