This little museum has uncommonly high standards of museumship and an extensive and varied collection. As the small public museums go, it's excellent.

This beach is a nice (though not that clean) long stretch of pebbles with clear water and plenty of taverns and beach facilities. However, it is not special in any way. Quite inferior to the Stoupa or Pilos Beaches which are 30-40 min away and hold spectacular views.

We had seen the monasteries already and this was a smaller version of those sites but beautifully preserved they knew how to build. Worth the time to visit and see the tapestries and ornate decoration inside. Awe inspiring.

Impressive church, very close to 23rd of March square on your way to the castle. A very nice walk every visitor should made. The church has been destroyed during Kalamata big earthquake and rebuilt at the same byzantine style. The hagiography is made with gold in pure classical style. The church is very high from the inside and in combination with the light passing through the colored windows somebody feels awe. Don't miss a visit when being in Kalamata.

The Victoria G. Karelias Collection of greek traditional costumes was created, initially as a private collection, by the founding member and long-standing president of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Kalamata, V. Karelias. The collection comprises a large number of complete outfits, as worn by women and men, from all regions of Greece.
Even if you are not heavily into museums this one is worthy of a visit. An old traditional building has been beautifully and sympathetically restored maintaining the external facade but modernising the interior. A huge amount of trouble has been taken to present what is basically a private collection of traditional Greek costumes and accessories in a very attractive and informative manner. The staff there are also extremely friendly and helpful and clearly take a great pride in what has been achieved. It is also a delightful and intimate venue for Concerts which are held there from time to time.
