It is an interesting walk and the art is different. Unusual to find in this part of the world. Worth a visit.

If you are in fairly good shape and up for a challenge - HELL YES, DO IT!
What a worthwhile experience, whatever happens weather wise.
My 14-year old son and I were up for an adventure recommended by a dear Argentinian friend. On the other end of the line was Alquimia's Noemi who fielded our questions by telephone for some time before we understood what climbing Volcan Lanin was all about.
I could understand that on Day 1 it would take 5 hours approximately to climb to base camp.
However, it was beyond my urban comprehension that it could possibly take a full 13 hours of walking on Day 2 to summit and return. How could anyone do that I asked Noemi? She politely and confidently responded that the 13 hours was only an approximation - it could take more or less time depending on the group and the weather conditions.
With her patience, Noemi made it possible for me to commit to making the expedition - one that will stand as the jewel in my crown of experiences.
It did take around 13 hours on Day 2 and those hours were grueling but ever so rewarding.
If you are fortunate enough to have the weather on your side, the vistas are as good as it gets.
You really feel on top of the world in a sea of Volcanos in two countries (Argentina and Chile).
JUST DO IT!
Thanks so much for your care and concern, Alquimia Tours

If you like dry fly like we all do, this is a great river to fly fish with grass hoppers and nymphs. Be sure you buy a license first but this catch and relase river is one of the best in the world for hoppers!! If you walk the road above you can spot lunkers for sure and my wife Carola Trout has caught many nice trout in this gem of a fishery!
