Rain and unseasonably cold weather made me wish this was canceled. But nope, there we were, shivering in our wetsuits in the pouring rain while getting lessons on safety. I almost said, Just leave me on the bus! But thankfully I didn't. Once you're on the water, the beauty and excitement make you forget all the discomforts you think you have. Plus, it's probably the only activity you can do in the rain and still have just as much fun as if it weren't. And a big shout-out to our wonderful guide, Ariane, who is as strong as she is sweet. Stuck in a shallow bed of rocks, she single-handedly manoeuvred our full boat back out into the current without a single request for assistance. She really knows the waves and not a single person fell out of the boat (unlike every other boat that day, it seemed). Thank you, Ariane, and Nouveau Monde for a great day!

Come and visit the oldest jail in Ontario and the second oldest jail in Canada. The L'Orignal Old Jail is a unique tourist attraction in eastern Ontario. Open to the public since June 2007, the historic building motivates people from the surrounding region and elsewhere to soak in the penitentiary atmosphere of long ago. From June 1st until Labour Day, the prison is open seven days a week between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Our guide took us through this prison which was the oldest in Ontario and the second oldest in Canada (Trois-Rivieres has the oldest). Having never visited such a facility, we were totally fascinated by life in a prison. Closed in 1998, it's inmates were then sent elsewhere, several of them to Ottawa. You will also learn if any of their inmates were hung there and how the life of a prisoner was anything but a hardship. They also had a special WWI exhibit. Check to make sure it is open during the off-season. Open daily from June to September. A good historical visit.

Since 2006 Beau’s All Natural has been brewing interesting, tasty beers like our Lug Tread Lagered Ale using the best ingredients & local spring water. Our family takes pride in creating unique, wonderful and certified organic craft beer, conceived with honest consideration for the environment and our local communities, and delivered with a sense of friendly relationship. We are an award-winning, local, family-run, organic, and independent brewery.
We were visiting my brother and sister in law in Ottawa, they suggested a trip to Beau's. Since I am familiar with Beau's from my local LCBO in Windsor, it was an easy decision. In a nice town about an hour outside of Ottawa, we arrived at the brewery. Being a Saturday the place was jumping! Waited an hour to do a tour, but were able to try many samples first. Very impressed with just about everything they are doing at Beau's! Came home with at least a dozen different beers. The shop has many interesting items available and some very well designed posters. The only disappointment was learning I had just missed seeing the Rheostatics. Must have been a great party. We visited at least a half dozen Breweries in the last few weeks and Beaus is right at the top! Keep up the great work and looking forward to another visit.

We just finished doing the afternoon rafting at New World now. First time rafting and had the best experience ever! We are by no means swimmer, so naturally was very skeptic about going rafting. Alex was our guide and we told him we don't want the raft to topple over, but definitely want to have a great time. And he delivered! Along with all the guides and safety reps at New World, including Alex - explained all the to dos/donts very carefully. They were funny and made sure we all had a good time - keeping safety in mind ofcourse. They were very mindful of us to want to take things slow but still made sure we had a great time. 5 star to Alex and his team for delivering exactly what we expected- will go back for sure and will recommend to others as well.
Only next time would be- it's a quite a bit of uphill hiking/walking to take the bus back once the rafting was done. I was going to pass out from the walk! It was adding salt to the wound, after the intense rafting. I wished there was some water available. What i wouldn't have done for some water at that time! My next time would be - to make water bottles available for the guests.

I visited a lot of vineyards in Europe and it was fun to see the Canadian way of brewing wine. It are just small differences but it makes a total different taste then the traditional European wines.
Really nice to visit and try some wonderful wines!

On the property, outdoors, kids can enjoy the huge inflated trampoline, ride the zip line, use the slides and accompany the parents through the huge maze in the corn field. You can hit golf balls in the range and enjoy a snack at the onsite burger shack. The owners are usually around and just love to strike a friendly conversation. All around great experience.

La Mission du Centre culturel Le Chenail est de promouvoir les arts, la culture, le patrimoine et le tourisme des environs. The Mission of The Chenail Cultural Centre is to promote arts, culture, the heritage and the tourism of the surrounding area.
Positioned perfectly besides the river, this cultural center is always warm and welcoming to the visitor. Stop to see the latest art exposition or one of the many shows during the year. The absolute best is the yearly "Bal en blanc" in June where guests dress up in pure white for an evening of pure joy.

After speaking with friend and family, we decided to visit the store, it's clean and fresh looking. The young lady that help us was very friendly and knowledgeable. Their green tea facial cream cleared up my daughter facial rash from too much summer swimming. We visited the Garden and it definitely recommended for a visit and maybe even a picnic !!
