I didn't know of Zeki Muren but even still I found the super-flamboyant clothing and pictures fascinating. It was a heart warming cultural excursion into the ever surprising Turkey. I wish there had been some information in English for non fans, but even still there's plenty to see over a half hour.

Lake Bafa Nature Park

Agree with wanderlusttoo ( 2013 comment)
As we approached the junction near Kapikirri where there is a sign to the tombs we got flagged down by a group of elderly ladies crouched on the ground doing needle work.
One of them insisted upon being our guide even though we didn't want one.
Regardless, she followed us to the tombs and then to my surprise the rest followed too. We were surprised at how spritely they were as they seemed to be well passed their prime.
Fascinating view of the ruins at the top, the numerous tombs and a great view of the lake.
The 'Ladies' would not leave us alone and they laid out their wares.
Quite frankly there was nothing that we wanted to buy- their lace fish seemed to be something they thought we could not do without.( we could)
We were discussing amongst ourself if we should give them some money anyway but they had gone.
Expecting to see them back at the cars- they had completely disappeared!
As we drove up to the village we were surrounded by elderly people and suddenly it occurred to me that we could have walked onto a film set of 'Sean of the dead'!
With difficulty I turned around in a very tight road and put my foot down- the experience was really scary.
Had a big giggle about it later that evening, it was actually one of our highlights!

Port Iasos Marina

Reviewed By kwiewiorowski - Poznan, Poland

You have to drive toward the village of Kiyikislacik. From Bodrum it takes perhaps 45-60 minutes along D330 and D525. North of Milas brown sign “Iasos” tells you to turn left. From there the road is uninteresting, you pass some quarry. We had no trouble reaching the ruins but then we used google maps to get there. The entrance is pretty inconspicuous. In high season I suppose there is a ticket to buy but this September there was no-one in what looked like a ticket booth. The ruins of the ancient city of Iasos are spread half buried around a little peninsula, I am told was once an island. It is a mixture of archaic Hellenic, ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine layers, one on top of the other. Information tablets have long ago faded away to indecipherable. The most interesting Greco-Roman part has been well exposed: you can see the ruins of a charming little Amphitheater, agora, gymnasion, bouleuterion (council house) etc. The top of the hill is dominated by the ruins of a Byzantine fortress and basilica. If you are keen and have time to spare you can try to walk around the peninsula. It should not take more than another hour but make sure you have sturdy shoes on and plenty of water. At the beginning there is even a dirt road leading to a view point and some scenic ruins emerging from the sea. Pass that and it is just goat tracks. Nevertheless some of the walls are monumental. Half way up the hill, on the other side of the peninsula you can find some Roman mosaics protected from elements by temporary roofing. Further on it gets worse as you approach some chicken wire fencing to keep cows in, which are difficult to negotiate, to get back to the entrance again. Yet it was a nice and interesting excursion. The site is relatively wild, undiscovered and nothing like crowded Ephesus but this is what makes it so appealing and nearly devoid of tourists. We had the site all to ourselves! Afterwards you can take some refreshments in a number of local restaurants tightly spread around the bay and marina. The view and food is excellent.

This imposing structure, built by the Knights of St. John in the early 15th century, is the most prominent feature of Bodrum.

I can't give this a 5 star because unfortunately some of the areas of interest were closed, however the parts we were able to see were very interesting. I missed the kitchens which I particularly wanted to see - couldn't face going back in as it was sooooo hot and my feet hurt. Its a lovely place to visit, beautifully kept and well worth a visit. The history surrounding it is fascinating but I would strongly recommend some Reading up before your visit and check up on when everything is open to view.

I stayed in Apollonium Spa & Beach Resort for 2 weeks.Experience is unforgetable.Food was very tasty, territory of hotel is clean and large. The best thing in hotel was animation team. These guys were very nice and fun to spend time with.Everyday there was several activities like golf, water polo, volleyball and e.t.c. I am sure that activities could be boring if there wasn't any animators.Rooms were very clean and comfy too.Sea is near the hotel,so you can easily reach it within 5 minutes. What can i say? One of the best 2 weeks that i spent in my life.
