If you are in the area, don'miss this wonderful hiking trail! Just follow the signs Redentore and than park at Refugio Pornito, and from there keep on walking all the way up! The way has hand rails, and it is not difficult to climb up there, just have good shoes for hiking! Take something to drink with you, the only bar on the way is at a very beggining of the way and was closed anyway! On the way on top don't miss the St. Michael church, build in the mountain side in the year 830 a.d., it was closed, too, but outside is impressive and inside you cal look through the hole in the door☺

This place is amazing. From the street, just a closed entrance. We googled opening hours, weekends, 5-30 to 8-00pm. Buy tickets from the building,on the right, while facing the entrance. Our guide took us down the stairs, into an amazing place where water was stored, then taken by aqueduct down the mountain to the town, it is beautiful, like an underground Cathedral, sitting under th sold town itself. High columns,7 metres high, an awe inspiring place, one of only three in the world, another in Italy and one in Turkey. From first century AD

We went to Formia to see the tomb and the Cisternone romano, both closed. Very unfortunate as we lost the trip to Formia, we could've visited some other place instead.

Touring the Beautiful Gulf of Gaeta we've found this wonderful place. What a special area for walks in the wood or along the coast, with superb views! What a bat in 'Porto Cofeniello' bay! And how interesting the ancient roman site! Higly recommended!

Formia is a lovely town - not too touristy yet. We were having lunch and this tower was pretty much just next to the restaurant. Since it was on our "To-Do" list anyways we went having a look.
Located just a bit a way from downtown at a small harbour is boasts a nice location. The Tower and the walls seem pretty well preserved for its age and are good for a bunch of pics. We didn't go closer, but I understand that there are some Exhibitions inside at times.
So, if you're in Formia, take the quick stroll down to the Torre. Nothing outstanding, but fine for a quick look.

After touring ancient sites and cobble stone villages on a hill, this beach was the perfect spot to end the day and catch the sunset.
