I love my prison tours having had spent time in one as a prison nurse. Maitland is a beauty because it only closed 20 years ago. Access available to most areas. Staff great and the audio tour, featuring voice diaries of 'inmates' and 'screws' was excellent. Port Arthur in Tasmania and this are two of the very best.

Admission is free and we partook of the Passchendaele 100th anniversary photographic exhibition. This gallery has many different one-off Exhibitions and is well worth a look-in. The lady on the counter was excellent, informative and friendly. And don't leave without stopping at the cafe that has excellent coffee and desserts.

Love this new (since 2015) location. Although the Warners Bay store is closer, I'm glad I decided to go and check out Thornton. We ate at the cafe and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere with indoor and out door Seating. Loved the little museum, it was really well set out and interesting. Service was fantastic, very helpful staff. I've always worn only Mortels uggs. They are well worth the money. Will definitely be back to eat at the cafe

Out for a day drive with friends it was time for lunch after strolling through the shops. The lunch specials are cooked to order and very good value. The prawn cutlets were excellent as was the barra and chips. Good beer selection too.

Took a group from Sydney relatively early one morning. Railway was not working then but would be popular with children and those young at heart. The group was absolutely thrilled and taken by the late Victorian brick pump house building. An architectural gem of form, design and colour. Great companion to the 1877 Hydraulic Engine/ Pumphouse at Carrington in Newcastle. Credit to all those who have conserved the Walka Water Works building and who have made the grounds accessible to the public. External display of heritage items and equipment is also interesting and informative.

We bumped into Dan at a winery and booked him for the next day, he was fabulous. His knowledge of the region and processes of wine making were very insightful. He made the tour fun and interesting and the selection of wineries were brilliant too with a stop off at a cheese and chocolate shop just for a change. Do yourself a favour and book Dan for a great day out, you will love it

We debated whether or not to visit. How glad we were that we did. So much history about our early settlers and the various immigrants many of whom created everyday familiar products. The courthouse experience was interesting.
