Everyone needs to see this beautiful world wonder! We went with Kavac excursions - they were excellent! Very professional, great food and good accommodation in Canaima.
We did the usual 2 nights, where we got a boat trip to the camp near the falls and walked to the falls the next morning. It was so stunning! You could see the falls from camp and it is truly awe inspiring!
The walk is only 1 hour there and the falls are even more majestic close up - when you get to the site where the falls land, you suddenly realise how powerful they are.
This was a perfect time of year to go - enough rain so that we didn't have to push the boat and there was water at the falls (enough to be truly impressive) but not the rainy season so that you were constantly in rain and mist. It rained in the afternoons, which was fine because usually have seen the falls by then.
Take mosquito repellent and long sleeved clothes and trousers.

Of note in this historical plaza are four statues representing the original republics of Gran Colombia.
Plaza Bolivar in Ciudad Bolivar is small quiet place in the heart of old Ciudad Bolivar. It has lovely surroundings and nice statues. In the middle, the great Bolivar overlooks the plaza, with ladies representing each state he freed during the independence war in the "corners" of the plaza. The place is nice and clean and almost empty. It´s nice to chill around, relax and enjoy the sleepy atmosphere of the plaza.
We took it easy and took our time there - so we easily spent about 20-30 minutes wandering around, making photos and resting.

It's one of the most beautiful places in the city, great sunsets and marvelous views of the Orinoco river and the Angostura bridge in the background, it's also place of the old city downtown where many of the structures from 1700 are still standing. Though anyone who comes to visit should be aware that there is certain risk, should be very cautious around this place. Not recommended for a night walk.
