To commemorate the end of summer exams, I took my son on a 3 day adventure break to France and straight from Geneva airport, we made our way to Fantasticable.
It was early June, and this was the first week of it's summer opening. When we arrived at the car-parking area, we were the only non mountain bikers and were worried why no-one else was about!
We bought our tickets and took the first of two lifts to the first station (stopping for a bite to eat at the mountain cafe). Totally under-dressed, in summer-weight jackets and tracksuit trousers, we looked totally and utterly out of place (and felt totally out of our depth), as we gingerly stepped around the rocks and last of the winter's snow!
Shivering, we approached the first wire, where we were met by some friendly and reassuring staff members, who kitted-us out, and we made our way to the wire.
First off, you know it's going to be properly scary, when you can't see the end of the run, and the drop looks horrific!
The countdown, whilst dangling below the wire seemed interminable, but when they released each of us we both screamed like 5 year old school children. The wind, the noise, the drop, the view...wow, just wow!
Having completed our first run, we then made the short walk to the second. This was at least twice as high as the first and when the wind started blowing left to right circa 250 feet above the ground, I felt a sense of impending doom!
Suffice to say, I lived to tell the tale (and bore some friends with my go-pro version)!
All in all, this is a 100% rush of pure adrenaline, and I would recommend it highly.

As pretty much complete snowboarding beginners Martin worked his magic and had myself, husband and 10 year old carving beautifully down the red runs of Chatel.
We found Martin incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in his training. I cannot recommend his services highly enough.
Thanks Martin and we shall certainly be back next time we visit Chatel!

Forme D'O offers a lot: outdoor pool, large lane pool, pool with massage jets, hammam and 3 saunas.
As a recent build the facilities are top-notch, with spacious changing rooms and secure lockers for your valuables, but entry fee isn't cheap.

Good selection, very willing to help. But do remember to book online in advance - you get a 50%+ discount over "walk in"

I was on the piste and had to stop for a boot break because of excruciating cramp from my own boots. A lady in the restaurant said to me "go and see James at Vertical Horizons, he'll sort you out. And sort me out he did. His knowledge of boot fitting and ski equipment is second to none. He went the extra mile and although he was unable to adjust my own boots, he found me a pair of boots that saved the day. My hols would have been a painful disaster but for James. A huge thanks from me.

Vincent's was recommended to us by a family friend, and honestly we could not have been luckier. Our New Year's ski trip was a bit lacking in snow (14 degree Sunshine...), but Sam and Vincent went above and beyond to accommodate the different times and days that our party rented gear, based on how much snow there was that day! The shop is right opposite the bus stop which is incredibly convenient, their team was great with the kids, and they let us store our ski gear overnight so we didn't have to carry it to and from the hotel. (In return we brought croissants in the morning). Couldn't have asked for friendlier or more helpful service. Thank you guys, and hopefully see you again soon!

We booked our ski gear online with this shop for our short break holiday. Upon arrival at 1.30pm, we learned that the shop closed 1-3pm, leaving us a very narrow window to enjoy our full-day lift pass. The phone number provided went unanswered, so we rented gear for the remaining half day with the friendly Mr. Crepy next door.
After a day on the slopes, we returned to pick up our gear, and were met by a very unfriendly sales assistant. She shrugged off our comment on the shop not being open, and went about organising our gear. When discussing our situation - we'd made additional costs, so were expecting empathy and potentially an effort to compensate our costs - we were met with a shrug, "that's not my problem", and basically a you-go-figure-it-out-yourself attitude. Sadly, this is not an uncommon service standard in La Douce France, but this lady took it to a whole new level.
If you're considering hiring gear from this shop, you should reconsider hiring from mr. Crepy next door. If you've already booked your gear... Bonne chance!

Having done all of it; scubadiving, motorcross, canyoning etc etc I totally missed the Skiing thing... So here I went to Chatel with a group of friends who all stood on ski's from the age of 4 and I was nervous.. to say the least to meat my Instructor Andrea who was willing to take up the challenge.
The ecole the ski staff where fluent in English, provided me with an English speaking instructor, planned me in their busy schedule and reassured me that I would survive in the capable hands of Andrea. They were also very honest. The conditions were tough. An icy piste is not ideal to learn how to ski.
Totally hooked after one lesson, I decided to take more lessons the following days so Andrea could turn me into a skier. This was no problem I could reserve a spot for the next day and corfirm after my lesson. One of the very good things was that Sensations keeps you with the same instructor during all the lessons which is really good when starting out. I was impressed by the patience and relaxed spirit my teacher had. He was always right next to me when I needed him to be and let me enjoy my space when I took it. After 3 days i could join the group. He turned me into a skier! Thank you Ecole de ski Sensations in Chatel! Especially Andrea for spending tree days skiing backwards. Located at the Linga lift or just follow all the smiling kids. make Reservations upfront if you can.

Don't be fooled by the name - Mr. Crepy provides excellent service, stemming from a long line of village mayors.
Not having pre-booked, we simply rocked up and Mr. Crepy sorted us out with ski gear in no time. As we rented stuff for a half day only, it was a bit pricey, however the shop is open 8.30am-7pm, so you won't be caught out during the infamous Chatel Siesta, as staff in other shops in the neighbourhood take lenghty mid-day naps.

Venez pour une pause dans dans le centre de blaneotherapie avec spa, sauna, hammam, medyjet, siege massant et coin repos. My partner and I visited La Fee Bien-Etre late March after a day of rain and wet cold skiing.
We do Spas wherever we go and no holiday is complete without a bit of serious pampering after proper exercise, don't you agree? La Fee Bien-Etre was far better than expected. Clean, really relaxing music from a proper system, heavily invested in, no short cuts and the very latest equipment. Try the medi spa water massage bed, incredible experience. I loved the steam room with changing lights like stars, the steam room, and the massage chair was unbelievably effective. The massage from the therapist was deep and professional. All in all the highlight of our holiday.
