Cascada del Rio Agrio

This cascade has 4 falls and can be done by walk (not difficult at all) or by car. If you do it by car, bear in mind that parking lots are very clearly marked, you will have to pay attention to a few sticks that show the parking area.
I suggest you doing by walk as otherwise, there are some parts of the trail that you'll miss and that are beautiful.
I fully suggest you to do the walk in the morning, as the light shows the water color much prettier than in the afternoon.
Where the trail starts it's shown the names of the 4 cascades and the time it takes to complete the circuit.
Don't confuse 'Cascadas del Rio Agrio' with 'Salto del Agrio'. The Cascades are almost within the city, while 'Salto del Agrio' is some kilometers away.
Don't miss 'Salto del Agrio' as it's incredible beautiful.

Hot Springs pools are really interesting to visit, even if you are not a fan at all of bathing on the different pools. All of the pools show different colors and properties, and temperatures.
They are open from December to May, but you still can watch them any time of the year. Just bear in mind that out of season all the hotels in Copahue are fully closed, and that since the place is very close to the volcano, it tends to become isolated by the snow. They can have 2 meters of snow, so everything gets blocked.
In the road to Copahue you can also watch volcanic related events like boiling mud, and hydrothermal vents in 'Las Maquinas' and 'Las Maquinitas'.

Caviahue

I've been here twice during the local winter season and i would totally go again. Even though this place maybe somewhat boring for the experienced skier because it doesn't have as many tracks as Las Leñas or Cerro Chapelco, if the climate conditions are good, you can enjoy all of the tracks plus an excursion to Copahue Volcano having the opportunity to ski back to the base (This is for experienced skiers only). This place has a very good family atmosphere and some unique sceneries worth seeing.
Even though it´s quite small compared to other skii centers in Argentina it has hotels and beautiful cabins you can rent, with vans that take you to the base. It also has amazing restaurants and some little shops.
If you like skiing, or just witnessing stunning sceneries and trying local food, even dogsledding, you should definitely visit Caviahue during the winter, you won´t regret it.

We went to visit Caviahue during winter so everything was covered with snow. The way up the mountain you can have a great look at the Araucarias trees, and you may see some wildlife. In the upper part you can enjoy the view of the frozen lake and the imposing volcano, just amazing!

Cascada Escondida

Reviewed By Verito70 - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Don't confuse 'Cascadas del Agrio' (4 cascades that belong to Rio Agrio and are near Caviahue's city) with 'Salto del Agrio (a waterfall).
To arrive to Salto del Agrio you need to drive about 16 km away from Caviahue on Ruta Provincial 26 and 27 and then 2 km to arrive to the waterfall. You can ask for directions at the Tourism Office.
The fall is amazing and for sure it's the best attraction. Take your time to enjoy this fall that is about 60 meters high.
The place was considered sacred by the ancient communities, and it's truly a magical place to visit. Colors are intense and really unusual as they contain different minerals related to volcanic activity.

Laguna Hualcupen

Precios razonables.
