A beautiful medieval city absolutely worth a visit in Coastal Tuscany. Capalbio has a different atmosphere than the touristy towns in the close-by Monte Argentario. Walking around the streets inside the historic center is a absolute delight. The city seems not to be invaded by the usual throng of tourists. We stayed in Capalbio and had the immense pleasure to wander in the city in the late evening, when most of the day visitors have departed.

Capalbio is so beautiful! You must check it out if you have the chance. You can come by train, it's definitively easier than by bus. The train station is far from the town but you could rent a car. The castle is gorgeous.. Surrounded by many houses, there's a beach and the town could be walked in about 3 hours. I loved it every time I saw it. Also check out the little stores. They're pretty cool!

We were staying in nearby Manciano and the owner of our B&B recommended Ultima Spaggia as a beach and place to eat. It's on a long stretch of volcanic sand. It's a typical beachside restaurant with whitewashed wooden floor boards and lots of sea-related memorabilia on the walls. We paid a modest sum for a huge seafood buffet (pick four different seafood types for €16) and had a lovely time getting tucked in with cold beer. We rented loungers on the beach for the day at €10 each. Nice down-to-earth spot.
