Galas, regattas, the Film Festival and an outrageously attractive and affluent set characterize Cannes. Vast yachts obscure the view and the town lives up to its motto, "Life is a festival." People-watching is the activity that brings most visitors to Cannes, and hotel-lined La Croisette provides a fine promenade. First popularized by Coco Chanel, Cannes beaches are a huge draw. Get expensive seaside food and drinks service on hotel sand or opt for the free public beaches, Plages du Midi and de la Boca.

Two Islands just a boat ride from Cannes, Ste-Marguerite and St-Honorat, are covered by eucalyptus and pine Forests and are home to Fort Royal.
Took the boat from the port across to the island and had a lovely day out. There is a snack bar and a full restaurant on the island and plenty to see. Just follow the trail and you come across the Abbey where the monks make their wine and there is a gift shop. The ruins of the previous monastery are on the sea’s edge and are well worth a climb up to explore. There are rocky coves around the island where you can have a dip to cool off.

Nice little place in Cannes old town. We were wandering around looking for a nice place to eat. We had the 27€ fixed menu (included appetizer, main entree and dessert). Everything was fantastic and more than enough. I’d say it’s a great catch and service is also pretty good. I’d definitively recommend it. Two thumbs up.

The island is easily accessible by frequent ferry schedules from Port of Cannes. Only a 15 min ride. Along, you see beautiful coastal line of Cannes and it's clear blue sea water. The ride was quite rough for me that day but nevertheless it was safe. I suggest to sit on the deck to take in the early autumn breeze.
Approaching Ile Sainte Marguerite you see the famous Fort Royal.
It was an easy walk to Fort Royal, signage in the island is very clearly indicated. There are 2 restaurants in this tiny island but I didn't try.
Went to visit the Fort Royal and the museum of which the famous men in the iron mask was once imprison there.
There isn't much activities in this island but walking around was really an escape from the hustle bustle city life where I came from.
It is worth visiting while you are in Cannes. If you do not plan to dine there, I would say 2 to 2.5 hours are sufficient and you can take the next ferry back to Cannes.

This traditional French outdoor market specializes in quality produce harvested by local farmers.
Marche Forville Cannes, Cote D'Azur, Provence-Alpes-Cote-D'Azur France seems to be a lot more exciting than small town Ontario Canada markets. I think it is the heavenly selection of cheeses and meats that seem so much more european. I love the selection of breads.
European living involves buying smaller quantities more often, mainly as the fridges are so much smaller than the space ship I have at home. Life revolves around family and good food and wine a little more, priorities of daily life shifted. Love it.

This world-famous street, which runs along the shoreline of Cannes, is full of upscale shopping opportunities.
If you're in Cannes, you'll end up here. The beachfront is beautiful, with places to sunbathe, eat lunch, take photos, and more. If you want to walk the street with few other pedestrians, come early; it will become quite crowded by midday. I was here in autumn and it's one of the most beautiful (and sunny) places I've been.

Painted wall "Cannes Cinema" They are all here, ready to start shooting. The sets are in place, the camera rises for the prestigious credits of a hundred years of cinema: R2-D2 and Mickey Mouse, Fred Astaire dancing, Bourvil and de Funes being shot at, Batman and Superman on the lookout for bad guys, Belmondo and Depardieu chumming up, etc. In the Sunshine of Cannes, Day for night, Truffaut-style.
Discovered this mural when exploring Le Suquet (old town). The mural is next to the bus station near Hotel de Ville.
On the wall are pictures of Charlie Chaplin, R2-D2 and C-3PO and other iconic film characters. It's fun to stop and see how many you can recognise.

This is the high street shopping of Cannes. La Croisette is the designer shopping street.
There are make up, clothing, shoes, art galleries and a few specialist shops. Restaurants, bars and ice cream shops are all close too.
Open Monday to Saturday with only a few being open on Sundays.

After leaving Casino i crossed the street and took my foot up to this nice place for some photo over the area it was not long walking between 5-10 minutes. The at top I could see the town that from top look fantastic. Free entrance. It was a museum at top and also a Church. So this point was the best moment for me in Cannes. There goes a small Train up here for tourist. You can see in all direction from here.
