Isole di Brissago

Reviewed By Phil R - Adelaide, Australia

If you are cruising on the lake from Locarno or one of the other locations you have the choice of hopping off the boat to visit this little island. The island has created the most beautiful botanic Gardens with species from around the world. It also has a hotel on site where you can either have a meal or simply stop by for a drink while you wait for the boat to come back to collect you. Allow an hour or two depending on how interested you are in Gardens! There is a small admission fee of around 7 francs.

I was surprised to find a cigar factory on the lakeside
I am fascinated that there are cigar factories in Switzerland. Where I live we have Villager. As I had nothing to do I thought I would see the factory but is was closed only open for groups of six or more
I went to the shop which was nothing special and bought a Brazilian mild leaf cigar for 13 Chf which I am smoking now looking at the Mountains and is fine for a casual cigar smoker

Lido Brissago

Reviewed By Alexa8776 - Houston, Texas

If you picture a perfect lake, it is shades of blue with calm water and surrounded by Mountains and a charming town. Hard to believe that it actually exists in the Lido Brissago and waves of Lake Maggiore. It is the perfect place to get away from crowds and relax on the water. The area has great hotels, restaurants and the locals really seem to appreciate your visit. Would love to go back again!

Sacro Monte e Santuario di S. Maria Addolorata

I remember the place with the story of Jesus Christ death since I was a boy. From the village up to the mountain with a huge picture of Jesus you can see all the stations of this life. The original pictures have been replaced with modern pictures. Nevertheless an impressive path in a nice landscape.
