A really nice and refreshing 80-minute brisk hike with my Cocker Spaniel around Killarney Lake loop trail. The trail is clearly labelled and no need to watch for bears -- there are no bears on Bowen Island. Pretty spots to stop for pictures. Watch for some slippery areas when it rains.

Last weekend was the 'round Bowen Kayak race hosted by Bowen Island Sea Kayaking and I have to say that it was a superb event - great fun and great organisation - salmon bbq was excellent and the beer never tasted so good. Brent (owner of BISK) is a great host and he has great people working for him. I have rented from BISK before and everyone has been incredibly helpful. For a newbie in the kayak world it has been a great place to start.

Lovely half day hiking with Jody and a small group of like minded ladies. Jody was really knowledgable regarding Bowen history and habitat, and the walk was fab through shady fir trees, with lots of laughter too along the way. Xenia was a welcome stop half way for a picnic lunch.....a great day, to be recommended. Thanks Jodie great to meet you.

Bowen Island Golf Club is a little 9 hole gem tucked on the southeast corner of Bowen Island, but don't arrive there expecting an easy little course. A par 35, it has 3 par 3's, 4 par 4's and2 par 5's, with possibly one weak hole. You have to hit good golf shots here, or your score will mount quickly. It is a quiet, scenic stroll with some elevation changes and deer wandering the fairways.
Want a great day? Stick your bikes on the back of your car and head to Bowen early. Play a leisurely 18, then park near the ferry, sit at one of the funky restaurants for lunch and bike around the island a little after lunch.

Attended 12 July as never been on this island. We asked some one at the post with sign names pointing up the hill. We wanted to go to the museum so asked two people who lived there working construction. Not sure they said but across the street. We kept going up a steep hill to a grocery store and asked. Yes we were directed across the street, down a path and went inside a building. There was scraps of wood on the patio, picture frames to take your picture. A nice friendly lady came down a stairs and talked to us. Remodeling the inside it looked like. This is high tourist season, July, Aug, why now? She quickly left us after we said we did not see any corner signs indicating a museum, was told tucked off the street. Not much in side, few pictures. Surely after pioneers were on this island there could be more and also outside on the empty lot. Mayor have a coroner sign and more antiques and pictures and history to see and read. Not impressed! There is apparently a cottage to go inside we missed walking up the hill. We did read the signs on the way down. Needs organization and painting and signage for sure! But we have been to many Gulf Sun Shine Islands and thought this one a little dull for attractions.
