A must visit place when in Barmer is this Nakoda Jain temple. Catch morning 6:45am train from barmer to balotra (100km), which takes hardly one and half hr to reach. Get down and ask share auto (Rs.20/pp) for 13km distance to nakoda. As soon as u get down, go to the breakfast counter (Rs.20/pp) available till 9:15am only. Have breakfast (7-8 items) and then visit the temple and come again for lunch (Rs.30/pp) available till 1:30pm only and then catch evening train back to barmer. This place is very famous among locals and therefore is mostly visited by Jains besides other communities. Thousands of rooms are being built for the tourists these days keeping in mind the amount of tourists here. Place looks deserted and there are hardly any trees. Only amazing thing i found here was the newly constructed dome shaped huge temple with tirthankars at the top (150 meters height-GRAND AND MUST MUST VISIT).

A must visit place, magnificent temples with intricate carvings. Remind you of glorious past. Explore little deeper form first group of temples to see the other temples hidden from the view, spent some time on the ruins to admire the carving up-close.
The whole complex is badly in need of proper preservation, some shoddy restoration work has been undertaken but it has dome more damage. Visit then before they are lost forever.

Move from hotel around 4pm. Give Rs.10/- from bamer station to chohtan circle. From here ask for personal autos (Rs.100/- going and coming) and get down at mahabar dunes.
Pros: Away from city, less crowded, nice and quiet.
Cons: Not very huge, have seen much better dunes than this before.
Go in a group to enjoy more (plan a picnic).
While coming back, visit mahadeo temple as well (on the way).

This place is also known by the name Kushal Vatika. Being a Jain temple the carvings are exquisite which makes you marvel at this place. This is a modern temple and when we visited some parts were still being worked upon. The Temple grounds are well maintained and clean. Since this place is on Ahmedabad Road , it is easy to visit. One can plan visit to Mahabar Sand Dunes, visit this temple and have breakfast at Good Hall restaurant which lies adjacent to Kushal Vatika.
All the temples and statues are carved in white marble and offers calm environment. If you visit Barmer then this should be on your to see list.
