Looking for somewhere for dinner in Wellington. After rejecting about 3 places because of ridiculously high prices in one, pretentious decor in another, a restricted 'night menu' in another, and one that rejected us (it was full)........we stumbled into the Orchard Drive Dari Bar.
It does seem that this is where the 'real' Wellingtonians go. Very friendly and down to earth staff, bright cafeteria style lighting, and a varied and reasonably cheap menu.
Started with the soup of the day.......a delicious Turkey with Wild Rice for only 3.75. Then an appetizer of coconut shrimps......and while the shrimps themselves weren't gourmet, the whole dish was quite tasty.
I had a Greek Burger with onion rings. The onion rings were great (not greasy at all) and the burger was.......a nice size. The meat was on of those big pre-prepared burgers (not too salty, which was good) cut with some oatmeal or something.......but I liked it. Didn't taste too much of the feta cheese. My partner was disappointed with her chicken wrap.......obviously not one of this place's specialties.
But after those other attempts......a place like this seemed so refreshing. So it may not be a 4 star restaurant, but it was at least 4 stars for us.

Tasting Italian share-plates served with accompanying wines (local & international) in a beautiful 160 year old building.
Four of us had dinner Monday night 9/11. It was delicious ... braised beef cannelloni , pasta and meatballs , pasta chicken , garlic shrimp and caprese salad.
Owner surprised by the crowd on a Monday so lacked staff however she was hustling to wait , bar, seat , welcome etc and the chef delivered the meals .. great touch and teamwork.
If in Prince a Edward County , make the stop at Pomodoro.

I was pleased that this winery was open for lunch. On this day, they were only serving pizza due to the absence of the chef or other cooks. That was my intended order so I was fine with that. Every (of age) patron is provided with a sample of the Chardonnay with their lunch. Nice touch. Baguette sliced bread and a delicious black olive tapenade are provided at no charge. I ordered the Margarita pizza. It was a disappointment. The sauce was fine as was the cheese but the crust was dense and heavy. There was also barely any basil. One leaf per slice. Certainly edible but not memorable. I also do not like sliced tomato on a Margarita pizza. Cold water is provided and replenished. The winery on site sells a number of items in addition to their own wine. The wait staff were always friendly no matter how busy they became. Perhaps it would be worth a return visit for the pasta.

We were on our way to Picton and we saw this spot so we stopped in . I had a Sandwich and everyone else had something sweet. Everything was very good. Now we have a spot to stop when ever we are going through Wellington.

Smokehouse, Steaks And Seafood
My husband and I walked down to the Duke of Wellington/Sandbanks Bar for a drink before dinner elsewhere. We were seated outside on the patio overlooking the water and it was a lovely afternoon. Numerous patrons, all eating and the food that was carried past our table looked good. However, when our server came over she immediately told us that the only salad they had was Caesar, that all other salads on the menu were not available. Huh? How can a restaurant run out of salad fixings? Especially when within walking distance is a Foodland grocers which we later visited and they had LOTS of produce available. Odd. All over the patio were signs for Steamwhistle beer and other beer products which, one would assume they have available. Nope. When my husband ordered a beer, he was told they had nothing on tap. NOTHING. All they had was crappy American beer and Corona. I had a glass of Prince Edward Country riesling, which was nice. The patio/deck is in dire need of cleaning and maintenance and the sides of the building were covered in dust, grime and webs from last summer. Our server was really nice and even she seemed disappointed in the place, judging from the look on her face and tone of voice when she explained there was no salad or tap beer. The place is in a prime location and we were there one week before the May long weekend, presumably when the tourist season really kicks off. I predict that this business will be shut if they don't get their act together. We were staying at a B & B and spoke with another couple who had dined there the day after our visit. His wife ordered a mango salad and - guess what?! - they had no mangoes!!! I can't recall what he ordered but said there was an issue with it as well. They were quite disappointed. What a shame that this property is not being managed properly because it could be a gold mine. Even the locals we spoke with said the place is hit & miss when it comes to food.

Don't go there if you want anything else than a slice of pre-baked pizza. We were there just before noon for lunch, and I ended up needing to bring home my order after a 45 minutes wait... and the fact that my husband was already finished because he was lucky enough to want the slices of pizza... What I had ordered was ordered about 10 minutes before 2 workers ordered the same thing, and they were served almost instantly. Almost no apologies. Very bad service.

Authentic rustic European Cuisine in a casual Bistrot/Market setting. Find Bistrot fare classics like Confit de Canard, Lapin a la Moutarde, salade Nicoise, and Steak Frites. We also also carry an assortment of gourmet goodies from caviar, selection of international and Canadian cheese, assortment of charcuterie, Nduja, Chorizo and our house mad fresh Kimchi. Try our pommes frites, Burbank potatoes fried in 100% beef dripping or one of our best-ever soups.
Lovely restaurant. Delicious food all made by the owner, Sujo who happily spoke to guests and answered questions as she worked in her open kitchen. The salad rigaletto was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a refreshing to have a vegan option for dinner (ratatouille)...MoreThank you for your kind words and sharing your experience at Soup Opera! We hope to see again on you next visit to PEC!

We have been to this bakery a few times, now finally I am doing a review ! We were there early this morning for the ham and cheese croissants and a few other goodies. The baker is a super nice guy and we always enjoy his products. A lot of bakeries smell good or the products look good but when you try them you end up being disappointed. Not this place ! The cinnamon buns, breads, turnovers, everything looks good , smells good AND more importantly tastes great !
