There are little things I look for in a restaurant and one of them is the same staff being there which indicates a well run establishment, anyway on to the important things. Food excellent, very good service and well lit (you can see what you're eating lol). Altogether a very good eating experience.

Restaurant 178 has been the foundation of Fairlawns for over 30 years. Offering modern British cuisine to outside guests and residents in comfortable and stylish surroundings. Priding itself on fresh food, friendly service and warmth of hospitality.
My family of four attended for afternoon tea, right from our arrival to the moment we left we received excellent customer service, in particular our waitress Rebecca was very helpful and attentive. My daughter has gluten and lactose free dietery requirement and my husband vegetarian - the chef was imaginative and catered for all our different requirements. A choice of tea, coffee and hot chocolate was offered alongside our champagne - Rebeccca constantly offered fresh pots of tea. The variety of savoury and sweet treats was extensive.
Although our booking was not until 4pm at no point did we feel rushed and very much enjoyed a relaxed experience. Thank you for making it such a lovely experience

I went here for Afternoon Tea with my husband and daughter. We've never been here for food before, but had heard that it was nice for lunch.
The service was good and very friendly, everywhere was clean and tidy.
The sandwiches were obviously freshly made which was nice, but the cheese in the cheese and pickle was bland and tasteless.
The thing that disappointed me most, was that our cakes weren't home made. There was a large selection of tiny cakes, cut into very accurate squares and a tiny cream finger doughnut which was dry and doughy and had a sprinkle of super powdered sugar - the kind you find on a frozen cake. I'd have preferred a smaller selection of anything home made. The cakes we were given were characterless and very, very sweet. The scones were heavy and very dry. The small tub of Rodda's clotted cream was warm.
At £11 a head, (£33 for us 3) for a few sandwiches and some de-frosted cakes, it wasn't great. I can't see us going back to sample the normal menu.

Traditional pub food along with some new twists, friendly and welcoming
If you want a quaint place to eat you could do worse than eat here.
Real log fire in the bar area as you walk in, free car parking, which is rare in Walsall, decent selection of beer and cider and the food is very good. 25 day mature steaks cooked the way you want and a good variety of food, not very good for vegetarians, but we are not vegetarians so it was fine.
Not expensive and plentiful amount. Very good.

Family restaurant, serving fresh home cooked food to order, catering and function room hire for all occasions.
Visited here last week hosting a family funeral. Strange as it sounds, suitable places for things like that locally are getting very difficult to find.
When we made the booking, everyone was very welcoming and made the arrangements with the minimum of fuss. On the day, the buffet presented was excellent - one member of the family declaring that it was a "proper buffet". My particular favourite was the thick cut beef sarnies - so much so I think I ate 4....or 5 !.
Churchills does seem to be developing a good reputation in the town. Long may it continue...."we'll fight them on the Beaches....".

I have been here quite few times, and even in the past we have held a private party for over 50 people. Any way on my last visit, we were all very disappointed.
So we book a table for 8.45pm, We turn up on time, on arrival no body offered to take our coats, as we were had to wait for our table, we were seated in the reception area, but we were not asked if we wanted drinks whilst we waited.
We had to call the waiter over.
The wait for the table was not to bad only 20 minutes. We immediately ordered poppodoms, Which never came, two different waiters had to be prompted twice, What was annoying a table of guest who came in after us were served before us.
Then we ordered starters, which were fine except for one piece of a lamb chop. It was un-chewable and you could not cut it with a knife. Informed the duty manager who was passing by, He said that is to be expected as some "lamb chops turn out like that"
Mains came and the lamb curry we ordered was very salty, again bought it to the attention of the waiter, he took it back and few minutes later came back with a fresh dish, He said they "recently changed the way this dish is cooked and it is expected to be salty but they made another one which had less salt" other dishes were fine.
Lastly we ordered a masala tea, It was completely bland, no masala, As indians we can tell the difference, we questioned the waiter again what masala was in there? he questioned the kitchen staff who said the normal tea masala, we said no masala could be tasted and he just said well there is masala in there. the tea was left untouched thereafter.
very disappointing all round considering the money they charge. I can not us see us returning there for a very long time.

Food was amazing, it's very quiet in there which I don't mind. Service was good to but definitely recommend the butter chicken to everyone, it's the best one I've had so far. We also tried the mix grill which was lovely and only had water to drink.
