Vidin (Bulgarian: Видин, pronounced [ˈvidin]) is a port town on the southern bank of the Danube in north-western Bulgaria. It is close to the borders with Romania and Serbia, and is also the administrative centre of Vidin Province, as well as of the Metropolitan of Vidin (since 870).

Classic or 'Classic Pizza' as it is known locally is a large, clean and friendly restaurant situated on the banks of the Danube. The menu is comprehensive and has the largest selections of speciality salads I have seen. Portions are generous and the quality of the food is good. Bulgaria is a cheap place to eat and a 3 course meal for 2 including four alcoholic drinks cost circa £17.00. During a four day stay in the city this was the best restaurant I found. There is an English language menu available upon request and some staff speak basic English. The restaurant and its outside patio area are accessed by multiple steps and not suitable for wheelchair users. If you ever find yourself in Vidin this is a nice place to eat and enjoy a drink.

The staff here need to wake up to the fact that Vidin is now Bulgaria's gateway to Europe. That means foreign people will visit the restaurant too and most are not willing to put up with grumpy, rude waitresses and slow service with meals coming out at different times. Such a lovely spot in an old city, shame about the old style mentality of the staff. + Charging for the toilet in a restaurant is just a scam if you ask me. I sugges the owners use the revenue from the toilet scam to pay better wages to staff and then maybe the service will improve, people will come more often and they will make enough on the resturant without charging to use the toilet.

Phoenix Cafe and Bakery is like no other venue in Bulgaria. PC&B has been created to teach disadvantaged young adults skills so that they can have a better life. You will be able to enjoy a wide range of coffees, teas, cakes, pastries, breads, salads, soups, sandwiches and all in a lovely environment with English radio in the background. A free 'take one and bring one back' English library is available to help Bulgarians improve their English language skills. There is plenty of room and soft seats too!
Found this café on Facebook so on my next visit to Vidin paid a visit. Based in the bust market area Mick and his wife the owners gave us a great welcome. First real cup of tea in Bulgaria and great coffee. Wonderful home made food - soups, apple tart, bread and butter pudding. Outside Seating. English library to exchange books which are very difficult to get in Vidin. You must visit

The owner welcomed us on board! The restaurant was recommended by local people as a great place for fresh fish and tasty food. Combined with the lovely view of calming flow of the river we enjoyed amazing plate of mixed fried fish, chips and selection of Bulgarian salads. Don't miss the local wine and cakes. Very good service for small town.
Must visit restaurant in town!

We chanced upon this restaurant in Vidin, and were extremely glad that we did. The food was excellent. Extremely well prepared and delicious. We would highly recommend choosing from the seasonal menu. The service was really good as well, and unlike many Bulgarian restaurants the courses came out in perfect time, one after the other, rather than all at once. The restaurant has a really nice feel to it. We would recommend it and will definitely go back the next time we are in Vidin!
