It's on a small street off the main square and well worth searching for. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, the local dishes tasty, and the portions generous. Everything you want in an Italian restaurant. Vercelli is the center of the Italian rice industry, so definitely go for risotto.

We decided to organize a dinner in Vercelli, a small town north of Italy (piedmont). Vercelli is known to be the capitali of italian rice in a really foggy t,erritory but..we discovered a ligth..osteria capel rosso is a small typical restaurant nnthe center of the town. Good choiche of wines, particularly piedmontese wines. Good panissa, the tipical dish made of rice and beans. A good capel del prete with polenta all tasted with a really good dolcetto, a typical red regional wine. To end...2 different kinds of grappa that permitted us to forget the cold temperature outside...to sum up..a good experience

The restaurant Giardinetto in Vercelli offers a typical Piedmontese cuisine and highly creative gourmet dishes. Great attention to the raw materials and the search for new and tasty combinations. A rich menu, and seasonal proposals; you can also find the proposals of the day. Wine menu with Italian and French proposals and any labels from other parts of the world.
This was second visit to this amazingly well family run restaurant. The food is great and the service was really focused. Its a perfect place for a nice romantic meal, a family meal or a business meal.

The Costardi brothers are putting their money on fine cuisine inside the Hotel Cinzia, a family-run business for four generations. After taking over the family inheritance, they are building up a proposal involving catering that is innovative but, at the same time, firmly rooted in the local surroundings. Christian and Manuel grew up in an area famous for its rice fields and decided to bet on a creative style of cuisine where risotto is the prominent player, included in an interesting menu with over twenty variations all based on local seasonal raw materials with a strong emphasis on lightness and attention to wellness. A playful, contemporary and balanced style, which always remains in touch with their roots and finds perfect synergy between the Costardi brothers: Christian looks after the savoury dishes, while Manuel takes charge of the sweeter side, with continuous cross-contaminations, in search of a culinary expression that is free from rigid patterns. The dining area service area is managed with finesse and masterly skill by Elisa Bellavia, one of the best sommeliers in Italy, who guides their guests in the discovery of the finest wines.
We had an excellent late dinner at this hidden gem. The regional menu - "terriorio" - with wine pairing was a natural choice for both of us. Excellent, friendly service, good wines and well presented tasty dishes. We left the restaurant around midnight with a good feeling. This restaurant is definitely worth stopping for.

We came here for a "date night," choosing Vercelli because it was a convenient point to meet. "Il Paiolo" seemed like a good choice, which it was indeed. The menu offers a large selection of Piemontese specials. Don't come here expecting anything light or nouvelle. This is traditional cooking at its finest. No matter how good your cook book is, you can't duplicate this food at home, because it takes generations of experience to know how to do it just right!
It wasn't very easy to make a choice: for example, we passed over the antipasti, although the selection was very tempting: it included over a dozen different kind of smoked meats, including partridge, goose and duck!
In the end, we ordered the "Panizza," a local risotto with beans and salami. For "secondo" we shared a traditional "fritto misto" (one portion for two people was more than enough...) There are different versions from all over Italy, the one from the Piedmont is almost exotic, combining variety meats, meat, poultry, salami, vegetables, an apple slice, sweet cream, even an amaretto cookie! We finished it off with two wonderful desserts - a Moscato wine sorbetto and a wonderful home-made ice cream served with raisins, all soaked in grappa.
The atmosphere is homey and cozy, service attentive (one waitress had worked for years in D.C.) and the food was very carefully prepared from top-notch ingredients. The prices were more than reasonable, especially considering the overall quality of the experience. Highly recommended!

Cozy and spotless clean restaurant with informal and still intimate atmosphere! The jap dishes we had were all good, too bad the service was kinda slow (but the young lady serving at the table was smiling and friendly). The bill was in line with the area standards.

Rustic, pleasant atmosphere, good service and excellent food...what more can you ask?
The fried porcini mushrooms, served in brown paper bags, the "vitello tonnato" (veal with mayonnaise-tuna sauce), the "cotechino" (only in Italy sausage), the Piedmontese cheeses, well-aged, everything was delicious! And they make their own ice cream and breads.

Lovely restaurant outside of Vercelli. Very friendly helpful staff even though we didn't speak Italian they tried their best. Steak was amazing and cooked on a BBQ. Asked for well done as they serve it pink and was perfect. Good selection of wine and desserts too.

This is a tiny restaurant in the city center: first floor of a bar. Bakery is home made, all dishes are very good quality. The typical "Battuta di fassona" is delicious and delicate. Menu is limited but in line with Piedmont tradition. Prices are in line with the quality of the food. Service is discrete and careful, environment is cozy in a modern style. I would like to try as well the lunch formula. Definitely a place to be!
