This is a charming restaurant with excellent service. The people who run it are delightful, making you feel welcome and special on each visit. We always take our friends here and all have been glowing with their praise. The set menus are a little more than some locally but the produce is delicious, portions generous and the plates inviting. On our last visit, there were three of us and every plate was a joy to look at and eat. All courses are equally as good and in my view this is definitely in the top three or four places in Uzes and surrounding areas. Always worth a visit but especially when you can use the Terrace.

L'Artémise works with local producers wherever possible and uses exclusively fresh seasonal produce of the highest quality. All dishes are prepared by our Chef with the aim to bring out the best of their ingredients. Julien Lavandet offers two menus : Julien menu at 55 € (Amuse-bouche, starter, main course, pre-dessert and dessert) Artémise menu at 80 € (Amuse-bouche, 2 starters, 2 main courses, cheese, pre-dessert and dessert).
We had the set, 3 course dinner menu. First we chose the fig tarte with grilled camembert and coppa, an upmarket version of the grilled camembert and cranberry dish common on bistro menus. It was competently executed with a nicely jammy pile of fruit, melted cheese and the addition of the coppa was a good idea.
We then had lotte served on a bed of vegetables. The vegetables were fine but the fish was barely lukewarm, as if put to one side while the vegetable sub-structure was assembled.
An excellent pudding finished the meal: a baked apple beautifully caramelised and served with pecans.
Staff were friendly but varied in competence and knowledge.

Very Nice restaurant , un thé center of thé Town un Uzes
We discovered this restaurant by accident, as we had parked not to far from it, and noticed a courtyard to the rear bustling with diners. Set in a side street of an amazing must visit town, that is Uzes!
The gazpacho was divine and a perfect starter for such a balmy night, although a little pricey at €14. Mains of rare Tuna steak and my partners Tartare, were also divine accompanied with a selection of seasonal vegetables, side salad, and polenta.
The service was very professional and helpful with some translation issues. The courtyard atmosphere was very relaxing. One of the best meals of our 4 week travels through France...Enjoy!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We started with the tapas inspired entrees, had the hearty and delicious quiche and lasagne for main and the satisfying ice cream. Combined with wine from a good but not extensive wine list, the overall meal was thoroughly enjoyable.
We will definitely return and thoroughly recommend Ma Cantine.

Recently we walked to St. Maximin from Uzes (approximately 11.5 km round trip; bring a good map). This un-missable hilltop stone village has one restaurant, l’Estanquet, and we were the only patrons for a Friday lunch. And a sumptuous dejeuner it was, our best restaurant meal since coming to France. We both had veal in a morel mushroom sauce just bursting with flavor! (I would have ordered the duck breast in orange sauce if not for the duck breasts already thawing in my fridge.) The veal was served with a gorgeous assemblage of fresh vegetables including asparagus from the next village. Alors, les desserts. My husband had a mousse au chocolat served in a little jar, plus a molten brownie and ice cream made from a fruit I have never heard of. My dessert platter included an intense lemon custard (lemon curd?) with a sable-crumb bottom crust topped with meringue, plus raspberry glace and fresh strawberries. Both dessert platters came with a large, chocolaty, translucent lace cookie. For an aperitif we recommend the homemade almond-orange wine.
It appears that the husband is the chef and the wife is the host. Her service was extremely warm, friendly, and helpful without being intrusive. Only a little English is spoken, but when in France one should try to speak French, right? She worked very hard to help us understand the choices. On a less cool and windy day we would suggest the outdoor dining with a charming village view. Note that they are closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. Reservations would be a must on weekends and perhaps also for evening meals. L’Estanquet is just across from the church.

I went twice to lunch in September and had quite different menus on each occasion. The food is attractive, fresh , extremely tasty and innovative. It's altogether faultless. You can see that there is a gifted and passionate chef at the helm. The only slight negative is that on both occasions we had to wait ages to pay. The waitresses rightly give all their attention to the Delivery of food, not altogether easy distances for outside service with lots of steps too. It's not a problem if you're having a leisurely lunch, and an afternoon of leisure, but it's a bit frustrating if you have an afternoon appointment and you need to be on time.

We enjoyed dinner at La Table d'Uzes on the first evening of our stay at the hotel. The patio is a lovely spot of a summer evening, and their inside dining room looked very elegant indeed. We only stayed in Uzes for one evening but we luckily enough to get a table outside at Au petit Jardin. Having walked around the beautiful town and then walked into the beautiful restaurant Terrace there was a lot to live up to but the food reached those heights and more. The service was amazing and the food spectacular. I had the prawns in the shellfish sauce for main and that sauce was to die for! This restaurant deserves the 5*s and more! I certainly recommend it.
