Authentic Mexican Restaurant & Bar established in 1997. We are a Small independent company offering a friendly and personal service. All dishes are home-made using freshly prepared, locally sourced ingredients. Amigos is situated in the historic market town of Ulverston, South Lakes and ideally located adjacent to The Coronation Hall. Reservations usually always required!!
we came here for my sons birthday, we arrived in the cellar bar first and got some drinks while waiting for our table, very welcoming and smiley staff. excellent choice of cocktails and mocktails at very reasonable prices which is a bonus. we was taken to our table upstairs in the Resturant, food came out by name which was great as we had pre ordered our food, food was beautiful, full of flavour. as is was my son's birthday which I told staff when I booked, they brought out his dessert with a candle and by a special appearance of a giant chilli he was so happy and super impressed. we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. all staff were fantastic. thank you Amigos

We had dinner here as a family of 4. We booked in early on Saturday evening and the pub was very busy with groups eating, I presume due to Christmas. The menu is comprehensive catering for more choices. Meals are typically priced £10-17 for mains and the portions are large. We had to wait quite a long time for food (50 minutes) but otherwise we had a great time. Also reasonably priced wine for a decent selection. I would return if I was in the area.

Almost there and with a little fine tuning it will be a very good place. We were visiting our Aunt and Uncle and they were excited to take us there for supper. At first, although a little tight for space it appeared that things were going to be very good. Service started on the exceptional side. We place our orders and the starters came incredibly fast and they all were exceptional for all four of us. The food came equally as fast. 2 of 4 meals were exceptional. If they concentrated on what they were great at, it would have been a better experience and they need to have service a few minutes after the meal is delivered to make sure things are right with everyone. Vegetable Heaven is awesome. Mushroom on garlic toast is to die for. Salad was awesome with Balsamic Reduction dressing...mmmmmm. Salmon...deeelicious..Ham called a Gramm or something like that was a 6 out of 10. Fish made it to a 7 of 10. Steak was a 5 of 10....Steak fixings were 9 of 10 and of course the chips all the way around were a definite 10 of 10, not surprisingly. The service about vanished as lots of the young crowd started coming in, fortunate for the Pub but not so much for us as things got a bit noisy. It appears that beer does make the voice get a lot louder that is necessary. There should be a fine dining area a little out of range of the family type visitors. I know.... but this is England and things are very small...I get it. When one meal got to the table the waiter was called back and told that the chips were hot but the pork was cold and overcooked. He immediately left the table and came back with the comment that is was steamy hot when it got there ... instead of trying to make it right. The sad part of this is it was the Aunt who recommended it as she and her husband are regulars and they weren't treated very nice in my opinion. The meal after some comments by my wife was taken off the bill. The problem should have been attended to by the manager but he/she never showed up. Need for some improvement. I would go back but would be a little more specific on what I ordered. I am sure they will improve.

A Beautiful farm barn conversation on the edge of the National Park serving great British pub food. locally sourced and home made always served along with seasonal specials. A large 80 seater bar area with real log fire or a tastefully decorated restaurant for more cosy dining there's even a function suite available too. Just on the coast road towards Bardsea.
Friendly staff and a nice relaxing atmosphere. I ordered a rump steak which was quite large, but was not quite cooked to my request (well done).
The large plate only had a few small new potatoes, some mushrooms and tomatoes and was a little greasy.
Overall, not a bad price (£17.95) and service was quick, although it was not busy.

Last minute decision to have lunch. Quiet Thursday afternoon. Only two other couples eating. Went for the two for £12 option. Chicken and leek pie and steak and ale pie. Chunky chips and vegetables. Piping hot and good size portions. Real ales for the husband. Happy days.

I experienced something today in Gillam's that I have never experienced in any other restaurant or cafe anywhere.
Having ordered teas and coffee we then ordered some white chocolate tiffin. This was very unpleasant and tasted rancid and was very greasy. I called over the waitress and explained this calmly and although we were offered a replacement we chose not to bother. At no point was I rude nor did I ask for refund or removal from the bill . However the owner took exception to my comment, escalated the mild complaint to confrontation and made us leave without being allowed to finish our drinks. Plus he made some very personal comments about my behaviour. We were not happy and will not return.

Family and I are on holiday nearby and visited tonight for evening meal. Great little pub, friendly atmosphere, great beer (Cracker) and delicious food. There were 6 in our group and we can vouch for the fish and chips, beef bouginon and ham, egg and chips...all reported as excellent. The stick toffee pudding and salted caramel cheesecake ditto.
If you are visiting the area, I recommend this pub...seems to be only open Thursday - Sunday so check first.

Me and my boyfriend came back for a second time as we fancied a late breakfast/early lunch before shopping and were lucky to grab a table here.
Food is always generously portioned, perfectly hot and delicious. We’ve tried soup, sandwiches, baguettes and breakfasts here now and everything has been spot on.
The staff are all friendly and welcoming and the young lady who I think may be the owner always has a bright smile that lifts spirits there.
Lovely little cafe in Ulverston, we’ll be in regularly I suspect!

Went here for lunch on a Tuesday when briefly visiting the town. Small café with a varied choice of food options along with a specials board. All portions appeared to be very large. Very pleased with the soup and sandwiches we had.
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: A little cramped at busy times.
Would I visit again? Yes if in the area.

Homemade food and lemonade and limeade. Good fish chowder. Lots of clocks - interesting if you are there as the hour strikes!
