What a brilliant work is this people doing. The work with the community, with animals, with the forest. Fantastic. Congratulations.
We all should visit this place once in a year because their work is priceless.
We loved the quiet place, even in August, the importance of showing the portuguese land animals, the importance of showing the local farm to the city kids.
The most important, the work being made by the less fortunate of this life. God bless you all.

Hidden between mountain slopes of leafy vegetation and river Beaches with crystal clear water the schist villages are a great opportunity to spend moments of relaxation. The people are very hospitable and always have the time to welcome visitors and share their stories and traditions. In between, you can always try some gastronomic delights (made from recipes passed down from generation to generation) such as in the restaurant "Pátio do Xisto". If you decide to discover the surrounded forest by foot - Schist paths - you can encounter wild foxes or beautiful Waterfalls. It's not very far from the big cities and the mountain roads are in good condition.

Compulsory visit on the way to or from PIÓDÃO - an historic village that deserves a visit. There is a small water mill just on the side of the way.

This is a natural pool hidden inside the mountain. The river is really really cold but perfect for those hot summer days. If you're not feeling like swimming you can always take a path close to the river or climb the mountain and see the high views. You can find some facilities such as a restaurant, bathrooms, and a picnic area.

Worth a quick stop to understand the historical significance of the area and the strategic position of the castle, it really is a ruin with only the castle keep standing. However , drop down the slope alongside to the Ermida de Nossa Sra. Da Piedade and spend a pleasant hour or two exploring the chapel , picturesque surroundings , note it is hilly and there are a number of steps.

This Village named CANDAL is another village o belong to the list of the "Aldeias de Xisto" in central Portugal. The visit was amazing, the architecture very peculiar and beautiful. Once you walk by the small roads and enjoy the quietness around it is an amazing experience.

arived just as resterant opened 12.30 only to be told by a very arrogant waiter have you booked i said no but the resteraunt was empty i was told no we are fully booked with that sort of attitude the best thing that can happen is if falls into the gorge

Fiz um canyoning, na serra da Lousã, com um grupo de amigos com esta empresa e foi uma experiência inesquecível!
O acompanhamento dos monitores foi espectacular, sempre atentos às dificuldades dos clientes (de referir que o grupo era pequeno, como eu gosto, e porque a empresa gosta de trabalhar com grupos pequenos). As explicações que os guias/monitores davam eram de fácil percepção o que acalmava os receios do desconhecido que algumas pessoas no grupo tinham...
Os equipamentos que forneceram eram perfeitos - boa qualidade, limpos e perfeitamente adaptados; e o reforço alimentar a meio da actividade, com produtos locais ajudou a recarregar energias.
O pequeno rio tinha um envolvimento natural fabuloso!
