This temple had good atmosphere and beautiful view. But I couldn't find unique difference with another temple. This temple had big size parking area, and good road to temple. I want to visit only temple about 30 minutes, the entrance fee was 7,000 won. the parking fee 4,000 and fee per person 3,000.. Too much price, I think.

This is an outdoor activity so best visited in good weather. It is essentially a bamboo forest with lots of trails to walk along and large Gardens surrounding it. There is also a small building in the centre hosting art Exhibitions from local artists and a nice café in the basement. There were also weaving classes and other activities which were closed when I visited but are open during peak season. I spent around an hour and a half here and really enjoyed it, it was a highlight of my trip - beautiful scenery and very serene.
The trails/paths were pretty flat but many were steep inclines and there were some steps involved so if you have mobility issues you might not be able to access everywhere. A pushchair would be fine but I saw someone in a wheelchair struggling.

The Memorial and the museum are a good introduction to the Gwangju Uprising of 1980. The graves of the victims are moving, as is the Memorial Hall. The exhibits in the museum may occasionally seem overemotional, but the movie provides historical background. Well worth the longish trip out on the aptly-named 518 bus. A little further up the road is the original burial place of the victims, if you have time make your way up there, too.

A small fortress that was the one of the film locations for Dae Jang Geum. Visited here while transferring buses from Jeonju to go to Seonunsa. It is a pleasant walk from the bus station and it is also near a Pansori Musuem.

We took a cab from our hotel (Firenze Hotel) and the cost was about 5000 won. The museum is well-organized and most of the information is available in English. The museum traces the customs of Korea from birth to death. I especially enjoyed the displays of local food since it helped me to identify some of the things we had been eating.
The museum takes 1 - 2 hours to visit and is free. It's next to the Art Museum and you can also walk to the Gwangju National Museum from the Folk museum (ask for directions). It's about a ten minute walk. We visited both museums in the morning.

A nice refurbished historical market opposite the train station with places to eat and drink. Even has a place to wait that will display the train times. Not a long street but packed with interesting little stores selling hand made noodles, a butchers or just small cafes. An interesting mix of old buildings with new store fronts.

The Gwangju National Museum has 4 exhibition rooms on 2 floors. Of particular interest is the Buddhist art hall as many of the relics have been found locally. What sets this museum apart though is the staff. We were greeted by exceptionally friendly staff who are clearly passionate about what they do. On the second floor we received a guided tour by one of the curators who was very knowledgeable. All staff we met seemed to be well versed in English as well. It is free to visit the museum.

The main exibition was classic korean landscape-paintings of hills Forests. They were painted in the last 10-20 years by the same artist and they where uninspirering and boring without any creative touch. We went to the child exibition and thus was actually much better. There were some provocative art made by korean artists. Also do not forget to visit the cafe - its very charming with strange, but exciting korean sweets. And you can buy nice art.
