Claiming to be the sunniest spot in all of Europe, the Croatian island of Hvar is the perfect destination for tourists seeking the beauty of Mediterranean beaches without the crowds associated with more well-known destinations. Pathways lined with lavender vines lead to secluded coves, small fishing villages and local vineyards, and ferries and catamarans carry visitors across the calm, blue waters to the surrounding islands, all worthy of exploration.

lovely beach, simple life, that's what this place is about.
there's a 10 min cliff that you need to walk ( the real struggle is when you leave honestly because cars dont reach there) but it is worth it.
i loved it and loved the restaurant there

Best place to visit in shoulder season periods. Something for everyone - nice beach for kids, sunbeds and baldachins. Sea is still warm and it's not overcrowded. Also, there is a small restaurant with selection of salads and meat and fish lunch options or just a simple drinks / coffee / beer / glass of wine. Lovely in the morning when everything is quiet.

Visited the Islands right at the end of the season - wonderfully quiet.
The harbour is within easy reach of several restaurants and there are a couple of (quite expensive) little shops to buy essentials.
Toilets and showers were really nicely looked after and very clean at the harbour and there was also free wifi and a cash machine.
There's a small footpath that runs down much of the island - only takes a couple of hours to explore fully but does also lead to some 'hidden' Beaches and there's a display board at the harbour that points out local attractions.
A nice walk would be from the harbour to the exceptional Fisherman's House for lunch - or you can anchor directly at the cove that Fisherman's house is located. The walk takes you through a cactii arboretum through to more typical landscapes and through to cultivated vineyards etc. A lovely place with several good eating options that is worth exploring.
I can't comment on peak season, but right at the end of the season it was lovely and uncrowded.

The fortress offers fantastic views of Hvar Town. The walk up the mountain is not very strenuous. There's even a cafe at the top. I wish there had been more literature, but there's a pamphlet that gives you some idea of its history. If you are wearing a hat (and you probably need to as there is little shade), please be sure to duck before entering the stone doorways inside the fortress. It's very easy to accidentally hit your head.

If you are looking for a naturist beach, I would say to move on from Jerolim Island. Although it is in name (and a big sign explaining the etiquette), I would say it's no longer the naturist paradise it was. I would agree with the previous review that said 80% of those there are in normal beachwear, the nudists were very much driven off the Beaches and into the rocks either side.
On the plus side, it's a nice pebbly beach in a small bay in the shelter of trees and with a bar a few metres away. You can see why everyone wants to come here!
If you want to bare all, but are a little nervous of the crowds, my recommendation would be to travel a little further into the Pakleni Islands and find a deserted bay where you can do as you please.

This is the city, which we visited 7 times already (every summer we come here for the vacation). This city is small, but offers a lot of activities. It's forbidden to go with a car to the centre, so you have to walk by the foot. Every time we go there, we stay in Euro Kuča apartments. It's located in good place- the sea is not too far just like the city centre. Also, there is swimming pool. I hope, that the next year I will come back here too!

The building itself is not exceptional but there are old and beautiful paintings and relics from very early times- all very simply put together and perhaps more moving because of that. Many of the paintings are 15th and 16th century and some are quite beautiful. There are even a few relics from the 2nd century when the Romans traded and landed here and of course left their mark. ( mostly from the sea and recovered items from wrecked ships).

Loved the outside, inside I found it nice but not fantastic. The different naves are worth a look but I think the value is in the age and beauty of its place in the city.

After driving up from Hvar port to Stari Grad, we walked around the old town and the surrounding for a while. To walk by the lavander fields was so exciting, although we got tiered soon. It is very hot during the day in late June. Biking would be a better option, there are plenty of them. Beautiful place indeed.
