Chongming District ( pronunciation (help·info)) is northernmost district of the provincial-level municipality of Shanghai in China. Chongming consists of three low-lying inhabited alluvial islands at the mouth of the Yangtze north of the Shanghai peninsula: Chongming, Changxing, and Hengsha. Following its massive expansion in the 20th century, Chongming is now the 2nd-largest island administered by the People's Republic of China and the 3rd-largest in Greater China, after Taiwan and Hainan. Chongming does not, however, administer all of the Chongming: owing to its continual expansion from sediment deposited by the Yangtze, it has merged with formerly separate islands and now includes Jiangsu province's pene-exclave townships of Haiyong and Qilong. Chongming proper covers an area of 1,411 kilometers (877 mi) and had a population of 704 000 at the time of the 2010 Chinese census.

Hong Kong Style Chinese food. Near Shi Men Er Lu.
Fair to decent quality eclectic Xiang Gang Cantonese food. The worst service we've seen in more than 20 years experience in China. This is very odd for Shanghai where service is usually excellent. After taking the order the wait staff chatted together and did not bring out more than one dish without being asked, They never refilled our tea without us begging them. The rice we ordered was forgotten. We had to ask three times and finally they brought bowls of COLD rice. We don't know whether they speak English but even for those fluent in Chinese, if you are not a close relative of the boss, we cannot recommend you try Hong Ji Restaurant.

Looking for a break from Chinese food, I was glad to find this little Italian gem with a great lunch menu consisting of a varied salad bar, main course, and dessert.
While the pizza was pretty good, the best part of the meal for me was the salad bar, tons to choose from though the tuna pasta salad was my favorite.

It's the only Belgian Brasserie in China. Excellent food, good service and a very nice atmosphere. You can taste of course the Belgian Beers over here (some are even on draft!!!) and enjoy the quality food.
The owner, Suri, studied and worked in Antwerp to learn the Belgian Food. He even speaks dutch. Very nice people, the best of food, and a good price.
I certainly will come here again.

Chongming island is a lovely place by herself. Chongming is just across the river from Shanghai like New Jersey to Manhattan. To come here for a quiet weekend is refreshing. You can try the Chongming Rice Wine and definitely a new experience.

Ate upstairs in the restaurant. They use organic ingredients to create traditional French cuisine. Very nice food with the menu divided up into mains and sides. Don't be fooled, the mains feed 2 and the sides are big portions.
Nice decor and nice wines, even though the list is a little limited.
Will be going back here again.

The first Belgian restaurant in Shanghai. We are available for meetings, lunch, special occasions, special beers, a coffee, a delightful dinner and many other things.
That's not so often to have kind staff in restaurants on Hongmei Lu, Laowai Jie. Staff at Belgian Brasserie were all very nice with specific attention.
Menu gives a wide choice of food.
This is not a huge restaurant but a small friendly place where you nearly feel home.
We will certainly go again
