Top 8 Things to do in Karaburun, Turkey

October 6, 2017 Malia Yoakum

Karaburun is a district and the center town of the same district in Turkey's İzmir Province. The district area roughly corresponds to the peninsula of the same name (Karaburun Peninsula) which spears north of the tourism resorts of neighboring Çeşme and its dependencies and west of the city of İzmir. In fact, the district area is one of the westernmost points of Anatolia. Karaburun town is situated close to the northern tip of the peninsula and checks the entry of the Gulf of İzmir with the town of Foça, another important tourism resort, across the waters. The district's administrative zone is bordered by the districts of Çeşme and Urla in its south and faces the Greek island of Chios to its west.

This beach belongs to the Municipality of Karaburun. The nicest thing about it is that you can sit on terraces under the trees full of cicadas. The only music you will hear is their voices. It is a lovely bay with clean waters. Cabins to change and showers are provided. The simple restaurant has sandwiches, salads, meatballs, fried potatoes and pasta. Prices are reasonable.
Car park is also present.

The Mimoza Bay is one of the beautiful Beaches of Karaburun. It is very blue, very clean and should be visited while in Karaburun. There is a hotel Tasada here where you can stay at, or Mum Beach where you can spend the day at the beach.

,In Izmir Karaburun dive training and enhancing recreational diving experience for all levels of diver single address, Summer, winter all levels of divers in each group are serving.

Karaburun is relatively untouched and offers amazing scuba diving. Ege Octopus is one of the two (I guess) dive shops in the area. We have been diving with Ege Octopus for a while and we all had great satisfaction. Veysel is very knowledgeable and accommodating. He and his team are fun and very friendly. The dive is not exactly a boat dive. You will be taken to the dive site by a small boat and will be returned to the shore after each single dive. You can dive as many times as you like as long as there are others willing to go as well. The water in Karaburun is cool and sometimes chilly, especially in the deep. Lots of marine life and relatively colorful sea bed. Visibility is great. The only con that I can think of is that dive shop (and Karaburun) is not very easy to reach. It is a long drive from Izmir and the road is very winding. However, once you got there and dive with Ege Octopus, you will definitely forget all the troubles you have had to get there. If you are in the region, do not miss this dive.

Drove out here in October of 2015 with some Turkish friends. Stunning seascapes surrounded by limestone peaks. Small cafes in the area. Wonderfully friendly people. Small coves clogged with tiny fishing boats reminded me of Mykonos.
Good quality road has just been completed to the area so driving was a breeze. Police checkpoints along the route discourage anybody from drinking and driving. A wonderful place to visit and spend a night or two.

A recently opened diving school in Karaburun with its own hotel and restaurant. Located in the wonderful Mimoza bay with crystal clear waters. New and very clean equipment. Very experienced diving instructors. You can even experience shore diving. A must-see for divers visiting Izmir (only 1,5 hours by car). There are lots of fish, squids, eels etc. We have been there already twice this year and we hope to visit again in October. You can stay at the hotel, dive during the day and enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant in the evening enjoying the sunset. Definitely recommended

Toprak bir yoldan gidilen fenere sakın yağmurlu bir günde tercih etmeyin. Çamurlara batabilirsiniz. Yön gösteren levhalar belli bir yere kadar mevcut. Yerleşke yok.. Harika bir manzara..
Don't drive on a rainy day, because it is an earth road. You can sink in the mud.
A great view
