Dindigul has three honchos for biriyani- Venu, Thalapakatti and ponram. While the other two evolved and taste went down, Venu still has that consistency and still the best in town. Now that AC room has better space and can house more people, our waiting time is reduced. But still crowded during peak hours. Parking is chaos as usual. All the parking woes and crowd is worth enduring for the sake of taste.

A name well known for its biriyani and was happy that it had opened a new joint on the highway. The mutton biriyani was good though not served hot. It disappeared quickly not only because of the taste but the small potions. You had to search for the prawns in the curry and when you found them, they were not fresh. The Vajaram fry was good but yet a small helping. The egg pepper fry was the only dish with their characteristic good flavour though I normally have this with country chicken.
Disappointing overall as I expected much more. Yet another place living on past glory.

Seems this is the first branch that the Thalapakatti Biriyani chain of hotels opened... Very small though... You might have to wait 5-10mins to get a table... if you are a large group, there is a newer and larger branch with two floors available in less than 500m from this branch... Food is good... Check for their specialities with the waiter...

Aachi's have 3 branches in Dindigul. Two near bus stand and a new branch near Trichy 4 way. The new branch is named as Aachi's briyani kadai, situated at a very prominent location....it is visible even from Madurai - Bangalore highway. I stopped because it looked neat and very new, though I did not have any idea about this restaurant.
The food was surprisingly tasty, I would rate this establishment 5 out of 5! I had mutton briyani and Nijam chicken.....briyani was the best ever I have tasted in Dindigal town. I would rate this above Venu, Ponram and Thallapa. Food was not costly at all, a Nijam chicken was priced at Rs. 90...really worth!
I even tried their meals and sea food variety....consistent taste was maintained in all dishes. So next time when you cross Dindigal.....give it a try!
You will thank me.....

I have ordered sweet corn soup, biriyani, attukkaal soup, sawarma and falooda. Only attukkaal soup is better rest is poor, particularly the biriyani is only cinnamon and watery taste and very less in quantity it's totally waste of money. I expected something better by seeing the name but disappointed. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone
